Thanks :) is there any negative about this then?
How can I trade, I've only had like 3 caravan's 2 were elves. As expected they had nothing I wanted :/
The humans were okay, lots of leather but still :(
how do seiges and being attacked work then?
Are they also affected by fortress wealth?

Forgotten Beasts seem to be akin to Toady playing Russian Roulette with your fortress, as they can be anything from harmless giant worms made of mud to necrotic-gas spewing nigh-invunerable iron hydras of doom.

You get a caravan each year from every race that can reach you (and your not at war with).
If a caravan leaves with a large profit, they come back with (usually) better objects.
Seiges are triggered by a combination of wealth and population.
Also, if kobolds steal enough, they start sending out ambushes.

That depends, do you like trained alligators and jaguars?

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Oh that'd be pretty immense actually :D especially the jaguar, can it be turned into a war jaguar then?

I think so. I don't play vanilla anymore, so I don't know which animals have which trainable tags in the raws. It's easy to add, though, if they don't (without genning a new world. Just save, close, add, then reopen).

So about the "U" menu. . . How do you clear out the deceased? Is there way without some sort of tool/mod or do I need one of those?

No way in the game as-is. I think there are tools that do it.

EDIT: though I can't find them on the Utilities/Mods thread

Ugh my dog got killed by collapsing dirt floor. -__- My fault for not moving him from the restraint, still stupid as shit though, legendary miner yet hes still too stupid to dig the channel in the right place.

Anyhow, my question this time is why are my dwarves not cleaning up the dead dog corpse or the dead kobold theive? I have a large number of them purely hauling and most have cleaning on but no one is doing anything about it...

About making boots and gauntlets.

Does my armorer make pairs automatically? As in, I tell him to make 4 gauntlets, and he automatically makes 4 pairs of gauntlets, instead of 4 gauntlets?

Basically, do I need 40 or 20 gauntlets/boots for my 20-dwarf army?

Much obliged.  :)

P.S. : Also, and this part is just curiosity, how does the armorer, and the dwarves wearing the armor, distinguish between left and right versions of items?

This happened to me recently, and stuff got messy at my gates, with goblin corpses, war dog corpses, and caged goblins all around.

My dwarves took SOME of the corpses to my corpses pile, yet they left a dog behind.

I fixed that by ordering his corpse to be dumped into my garbage dump (sorry, dog)...apparently dwarves give "dump item" a higher priority than "move corpse to corpse pile"

I'm pretty sure they are made in pairs, but not assigned in pairs.
Like, if you assign a low boot to a dwarf, they only put on one low boot, so you have to assign two.
I could be wrong.

Both are done in pairs.

One more question:

How do I assign an animal to follow someone around?
