Yes.
Unless he has killed dwarves on your map prior to being tamed, that is.  If he has tasted dwarf blood, then he'll go on killing dwarves even if his status is Tame.

1. Do dwarves get happy thoughts from seeing artifacts behind windows? I want to set up a museum (designated as a statue garden so dwarves will visit and walk around) to house all of my artifacts, since leaving them in stockpiles seems like a waste. But if a dwarf were standing next to a window next to an artifact, could they 'see' it and get a happy thought? And would there be a difference between single-item stockpiles holding, say, an artifact scepter, and constructed artifact furniture?

2. Is the only thing necessary for a cave spider silk farm pretty much to dig out a large open area at cave level? I dug one out in the first cavern level, there are webs in the cave, and I've seen a spider spin two webs at the bottom of my stairwell, but absolutely nothing is appearing in my farm. However, it seems that no new webs are spawning anywhere in the caves and I haven't seen a spider since the first one. My cats cannot access the farm or the caves, so they aren't killing the spiders. I haven't dug past the first cavern level, though, so I might be able to set one up in the lower levels.

You could cast obsidian, or build over to the center, then pump the water away and build downwards before it can rush back in.

Question: I have an injured dwarf in the middle of nowhere, outside my fort, he has a "broken" left foot. He cannot walk, therefore, is unable to return to the fortress to get to the hospital. Is there any way I can get him carried or something like that in order to heal him?

I searched the wiki and this forum and found nothing about this yet.

I'm thinking about building an hospital around him, but this will surely be a last resort...

1. I don't think so, but there is a mod that creates a display case building.
2. I don't know, but I imagine that the spiders actually have to be in the spot.

If he really cannot move, a dwarf with the "retrieve wounded" labor should retrieve them.
Just because they cannot walk does not mean they cannot crawl slowly to the hospital themselves.

You could build several floorings aiming for the center of the lake, and then build a stone floor and wall tower or something like that.
Creating a rock island would be something like a mega-construction. If the lake is not deep and not too large, you can mine the exact same area of the lake on 2 Z levels exactly below it, except you wont mine the center of it, then, you start digging upwards, the water will start to fill the caverns you build, creating an island in the middle.

He has "lost the ability to stand", as he has suffered "motor nerve damage". I don't think he can even crawl.
If I put a dwarf with only recover wounded labor enabled will he manage to do this asap or do I have to assign this job at the manager screen?
Also, is motor nerve damage still permanent?

Dwarves don't get happy thoughts from items lying in stockpiles, no matter if they're artifacts or even artifact furniture in a furniture stockpile.  They only get happy thoughts from built furniture.  Artifact crafts like rings or scepters or clothing can't generate happy thoughts in unmodified DF.  There is a 'display case' mod on the mod forum somewhere which enables you to take any object and make it into a building, and you can use this to display artifact crafts so that dwarves can get good thoughts from them.

In my experience, if you make a large cavern near where cave spiders are naturally spinning webs, they will eventually teleport in and start depositing cave spider webs.  Cats are however remarkably efficient at killing cave spiders, and once they've all been killed they never recover.  If you aren't seeing any cave spiders appear, they might already be all dead.

afaik "Being relieved from duty" happens when a dwarf has no civilian skills.

similar to how dwarfs with no military skills complain about being drafted.

Thank you! I'm off to give my hardened killers some sensitivity training...

Nerve damage is permanent. If a dwarf only has that labor enabled, he should take care of it about as quickly as dwarves usually do their assigned jobs (i.e. as soon as the rad party in the meeting hall is over and he's done moving a spare sock to his room etc.). You'll also want to make sure that civilians can get to the wounded dwarf (no burrows restrictions or otherwise).

...so theoretically my cats might have killed the only cave spider I had. In that case, I have some business to attend to. Involving ballistas. And cat owners. And unspeakable horrors performed upon lowercase 'c's.
