A question about caverns:

Somehow i have the impression that each subsequent cavern layer is more dangerous than the last, by depth.  Is this true?

If it is true, and i generate a world with only 1 cavern layer, will the danger in the layer be the same as the first layer would have been if there were 3? or will it consolidate the danger that would have been spread over the 3?

Thanks for any help
Worlds with a cavern single layer will choose plants and animals randomly from all three normal cavern layers.

Wait out the fire, or apply gratuitous amounts of empty stockpiles to serve as a firebreak. Also kill the titan, preferably in the middle of a giant empty stockpile.

It's out. Apparently DFHacking rain works, too.

Good thing, my liason + caravan were about to walk right through it.

Didn't see this (or likely missed it) in the announcement thread, but are there still bugs such as the plaster issue with the hospital in 31.17?

Seeing as no one has an answer for the fortifications, I'll post whether or not it works here(if i remember, as it may take awhile to practice it).

Also, i have a freezing embark with lakes, and it rains in the spring. If i dig out the ice, and then channel out the ice floor on top, could i have an ice machine(lakes are frozen year round)?

I have a dwarven demigod here, and he's pretty beast, but his only protection are his dodging/blocking skills and a thing piece of leather.
Where might I find armor that fits?
I am in human lands, (haven't seen any other civs yet, even though I'm a dwarf), but am on my way to a shrine, (I found elf-fitting armor at one of these locations before).

Dwarven armor cannot be bought, so either raid one of your abandoned fortresses, of take armor off of dead dwarven followers.

Can't find any dwarves either. The only armor I've scored so far is from a goblin raid on my way back from what turned out to be just a tall hill, not a shrine. Albeit, it's very nice, master-crafted leather armor, but still. How does one check if the dwarves somehow got wiped out? The world is only 125 years old, so I find it strange that I can't find any dwarves.

If you can adventure as dwarves I'm pretty sure that means dwarves still exist.
Try retiring in a large village, playing as another adventurer for a while, then going back.
Sometimes you can gain armor and other things by doing this.

Dwarves and elfs lack settelment layouts. So if you go to a mountianhome, there won't be any buildings or dwarves. Same for forest retreats. But the worldgen still takes them into account when calculating everything. You just can't meet them.
There are 3 ways to get armor:
1. Dead goblins
2. Searching night creature's lairs, shrines etc. preferably the ones near the mountainhomes.
3. Getting ambushed by dwarves (extremely rare, but I think stilll possible).

There's also some way to mod the game so that their settelmets get generated (though they'll look like human towns). Search this thread http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=70232.0 It's somwhere in there.

Damn, so unless I mod the game, I'm pretty much doomed to leather armor shits? Humans are op.
