One of my dwarves drowned in a river.
Is there any way to retrieve his body without draining or damming the river?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Noooooo.

Explanatory answer: Drain it temporarily. Build pumps to take water out over the body, and a path out. Turn them on, haul the body, turn off.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Actually, there is. You should be able to dig a short channel to one side that the flow of the river will push the corpse down. If you put a floodgate in that channel before connecting it to the river, you can then close it and only need to drain that channel.

How do I get the animal out of the cage without actually "building" the cage in a specific location?

You can either assign the animal to another cage that is already built, or designate a Pit/Pond area and assign the animal to that.

or try to move it to the trade depot, provided you have traders coming. dwarves are always noobs at it and they'll get the cage open and try to haul the animal, or cage?... its the simplest way, just make sure the animal is tame or he'll just release it and then run for his life.

Is there a way to see the world map again once you have embarked?

Is there a way to migrate your dwarves?  Like being able to choose all that can be carried by dwarves and draft animals then picking a new embark spot and starting a new fortress there.

AFAIK, no. Although there is an interesting bit about 'dwarf hibernation pods'

Is there a way to turn off masterpiece work messages? I have 9 legendary, and my bonecarver alone spams up to 9 messages from one job. I just don't care about those masterwork barrels :(

I take that back, it's now up to 21 master horn crafts broken only by incoming rain.

What is the highest amount of volcanoes a large region map can hold?

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

I'm pretty sure it only takes one "on" trigger to raise a bridge.  To lower it again every trigger needs to be "off", though.

The same as if you added multiple levers to the same bridge, you get multiple triggers. Make sure it doesn't become a dwarf-a-pult though :) You can get real creative with kittens and water too, have fun.

I've never added a lever and pressure plate to a bridge, I'd imagine if it could be done the lever would just be another trigger for 'super awesome hyper fun'. Gets a bit wonky with levers, same problem you would get with connecting items, pulling the lever, and then connecting more items.

The most volcanoes I've had on a large embark were 3. I'm sure you could modify it to have 50 if you wanted to, I just don't really care for them.

Are swordmasters' thoughts supposed to reset? I just got two great swordsmen, and they had their thoughts reset.
