Can you use 3 floodgates attached to a lever as a gate to keep intruders out? (non-buildingdestroyers, anyway)

Sure, at 3 times the cost and work of a bridge.

He's right, a much easier solution would be a bridge built over a 1x3 hole.

For an airlock, better to use doors.

I have too many floodgates, that's why I'm asking. And I can't place doors in the middle of a hallway.

Oh, right. Much more important question.

Do stealthed enemies trigger pressure plates?

Alright, my Jewler just got a strange mood, and somehow set a green tourmaline on a perfect green tourmaline. Or something. It wasn't a cut gem strange mood, if that's possible, because she is now legendary in gem setting.

What kind of stockpile would this super tourmaline go in?

1. Don't triple post. There is an edit button for a reason.

2. The cut gem will be stored in a goods stockpile, just like all other craft artifacts.

3. Yes, stealthed enemies can trigger pressure plates, just like they can trigger traps. I'm not sure whether or not this unstealths them.

Sorry about the triple post...

But thanks, I'll make a finished goods stockpile somewhere to put it.

Does a well need to be a meeting place for dwarfs to be able to drink from it? Or perform any other tasks?

If not, is there any harm in using zoning to create a meeting place around the well? This way I have a meeting place with a well and I avoid unwanted parties.

How do you get a dwarf to place a dead dwarf in a coffin? The guy died before I had a graveyard or burial receptacle set up.

You need to place the coffin and set it to "Use for burial"

1. It will work fine as a water source without setting it as a meeting place.

2. The danger of making it meeting place is that your dwarves can fall in and drown. There's also an increased danger of flooding. I have found it's best to stick the well by itself in a small deadend behind at least one door.

I have a possessed bowyer (joy), and he needs bones. I have a pretty well stocked up refuse pile and graveyard full of bones. What do I have to do to make this guy take the bones?

He doesn't need a bone, he needs a shell.

Fishing is the best way to get shells. If that isn't doable, the wiki entry for "shells" will show you how to modify the mods so that you can use cow parts instead.

... nope, he needed bone. Dog bone, in fact. He just took a season (and being mostly walled in) to think about it. I am now the proudish owner of a blowgun, which I think I cannot make ammo for.
