I'm trying to tame my first cavern level. I've been walling it off, going around the edge and sealing up the gaps. However, part of it is water. How can I protect myself from amphibious/reptilian invaders without building a huge floor over the underground lakes?

Applying Occam's Hammer to this problem is the best answer to be sure, but I don't have the means at this point. Is it safe to floor over the ramps leading up out of the lake onto the dry ground? It sure seems like that'd be enough to keep the slimy critters away.

That'll stop your run-of-the-mill amphibians, but it won't stop forgotten beasts. Probably your best defense would be a solid military, as the phibs will train up your troops and provide meat.

How do I generate a world with high savagery(untamed wilds), no aquifers and flat zones(with flux stones)?

The easiest way to get rid of aquifers is to remove the [AQUIFER] tags from the raws.
