I suddenly have a question mark next to Created Wealth in the Z screen.  It just appeared.  My bookkeeper is set to exact.

Did you just assign him or just put him to exact? They need time to get the books kept.

You can also see the progress the bookkeeper is making, from the same screen where you assign the precision.  It will say something like, "The records are 25% of the way to the next precision level."

Ahhh. I just flooded my fortress. I take it you can't build a floodgate that is supported by clay walls? Looks like the water pressure caused it to be dislodged from the clay wall... Is this assumption correct?

No, all walls support equally well, and water pressure doesn't effect buildings.

Could it be that the lever I setup for it was faulty or something? It flooded the land I wanted irrigated for farming and then when I had it pulled again, water kept coming out. I must be missing something here!

Sorry for the double post.

Were any stones or other objects pushed into the floodgate by the flow of water?  Any objects in the way will prevent the floodgate from closing.

That may have been it. I will have to check my save and see.

There was a dwarf in the stream who channeled the clay behine the floodgate so it would work. Could have something to do with it.

Do dwarf stats matter much in fortress mode?

Many do, some might be in the future but are there for design (?) now. Stats just like memory, patience, empathy... But if you are making a story out of your DF fort then that would be a nice help.

If you mean stats as in how agile/strong they are then yes, that means a lot.

I killed a goblin war leader, the guy who, as far as I know, was the boss of the entire gobbo civilization. Or rather, a human caravan killed him. Has his death any real effect on gameplay?
