Argh. Will dwarves haul buckets with water in them? I have a ton of buckets with water and a bit of lye in sitting around in the ashery.

This is a bug (#1236).  The only workaround I know of is to wait until a caravan appears; then mark the water inside the bucket for dumping (hit enter a few times, then (f) while you're looking at the water itself); then tell a dwarf to take the bucket to the depot.  They'll leave the water behind, and bring the bucket with just the lye inside it.

Or I can just dump the buckets outdoors, reclaim, then order the ice dumped out of them during the winter.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Just catched a Dragon, problem is even if i tame it it still attacks my Dwarves. Why is that and is there a way to fix it?

Is it a bad idea to dig out a space right under a river, in the exact same shape as the river, and then make the river go through it?  FPS-wise, I mean.

If an animal killed a dwarf during his lifetime,
it is inherently untameable...
while taming it will result in the "tame" tag being applied,
it has no real effect, meaning that the allegedly tame animal
will continue to kill your dwarves like a wild animal would do

Do you have assigned a chief medical dwarf (who is able to work in this profession)?
He is the only one who is able/allowed to diagnose patients.

Untrue.  You may need to have a CMD in order for diagnoses to be performed, but the CMD does not necessarily have to be the one making the diagnoses.  Other dwarves can and will do it.

If you carve an engraving into magma-safe stone, will magma crossing the engraving destroy it?

Nope, I just donīt like Mega-Sentences which go without paragraphs along the full width of the screen. Maybe Iīm overdoing my line breaks a little bit, but on the other hand, other people, yourself included are underdoing it, so IMHO it evens out ;)

I have a dwarf who slipped into our watering hole while pumping during spring flooding.  I want to get him out without draining the watering hole.  How can I?  I built channels around him but he isn't going up them.  He's a great swimmer now btw.   8)

EDIT:  Well, he's dead now.  So I wouldn't be surprised if the watering hole turns nasty now.  So how can I get his corpse out.  :(

If there's a working ramp up, he should try taking it.

No, the captain of the guard giving out a beating, is completely different. I've had a few of those, he goes in and smashes him with about 20 good punches. Completely fucked up two of my guys. The hammerer used his hammer strikes however and killed the guy.

If the captain is armed, he'll use it.  I found out when I gave the position to a miner, and he beheaded several people with his pick.

seriously, i had a fortress guard issue a beating with a training axe.  he was not the CoG.  the beaten dwarf got a fractured skull, and a happy thought for having his sentence reduced.
