[0.31.01] Crashes to Desktop from GRAPHICS:YES and Embark

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

The game crashes to desktop if I embark, or if I try to create a new world or play in the arena with GRAPHICS:YES

The embark crash happens even NOT in graphics mode.

Same here.

Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit / Quad Core (mayday Graphics - but also with Graphics NO) - as soon as i hit embark CTD -Runtime error

tried running it in every compatibility mode - no effect
windowed / full screen - no effect
admin mode - no effect

exact same setup on a Windows XP 32Bit / Dual Core rig - everything works, no CTDs at embark

Adventurer mode - works like a charme on Vista btw

strange days.

Anyone running on Vista 32bit?

Got some interesting news here (this mantis bug tracker is a tool indeed)

CTD apparently only happens if you choose an embark window over 10x10 (as reported by another user)!

I used 13x13 every time before.
now i tried 9x9 and it worked. trying 10x10 next.

I'm running on XP 32 bit and with graphics on I usually (not always, but almost) get a crash on world gen. Embark and playing the game with graphics on works fine and world gen with graphics off always works too.

It seems the cause is found:

As soon as DF hits 2 Gig memory usage it dies with a runtime error

this happens a lot with graphics enabled.

I embarked without graphics on a 13x13 grid - saved - enabled maydays graphics reloaded and DF is now using 1.86 gig memory. lets see how long this will work ...
