The very best part of the new version is that hatch covers no longer blink on and off when placed on ramps and stairs.  Honestly, everything else pales in comparison to this addition.

:o *Runs off to churn out hatch covers*

Honestly this is the only reason I never used them.  Great news indeed!

I'm enjoying the better organization of labors.  Being able to turn off "dabbling comedian" while viewing skills is nice.

And ramps will flash through miasma, though I'm not sure if that wasn't already so in the previous version.

I like the fact you can give squad member's a schedules.
and that immigrants sometimes come in with Grand Master Masonry when they are listed as a woodcutter.

Theres alot of new stuff i like over the older versions but something that caught my eye, was that now, migrants dont come in hordes of twenty or more, but in smaller more managable numbers.

Also the "mud requierment" bit for farming, is pretty neat, makes you work a bit more for food.

The new announcement system off course is totally awesome!!

Absolutely gobsmacked by the new underground. This is how DF was meant to be played.

This.  It really feels like "The Underground" now.  Love it!

You can now drink blood in Adventure Mode without the "No, that's disgusting" message.

Elf blood is surprisingly filling.

The new selection movemen system.

Up + left = up/left diagonal movement.

And combine up/lef with up and you get up/up/left movement (Like a chess knight.)

AWESOME!

Selection movement? New? I think one of us is missing something.

Arena mode, K, hit 7 and 8 at the same time, or 7 and 4, or 4 and 2.

Totally new.

Digging channels works differently! Try it! It creates ramps, and only when a ramp becomes detached from a wall, it changes to an open space.  You can now designate huge areas to be channeled, without having to fear your dwarves will trap themselves or create cave-ins. Digging multi-leveled rooms is very easy now, as long as you begin with the top level.

Combining movements on the cursor doesn't work like that in df, last time I checked.

New underground by far, now we have a sense of progression instead of just making a fortress and digging for HFS and fighting off sieges, fortress mode is even more fun now.

New megabeasts are also pretty awesome, considering only 1 of my worldgen's megabeasts died in 55X years, and thats only because it had an encounter with a bronze colossus.

I'm lost by the new "Underground" everyone is talking about?

I have built three forts all to fall from ambushes, and all I did was dig farms and try to find the "Underground."
What happens ther anyway? Endless wave of large rats?
