Unable to farm underground

Allright, i found a very nice spot in sandy loam for a farm, and its set up.  however, when i goto plant, i get "no seeds avaliable for this location" I checked, and yes, i do have plump helmets. Yes, it is underground.  In fact, the plump helmet seeds are RIGHT next to the farm.

I also have other seeds, like cave wheat, and quarry bushes.

In addition, i got something called a "saguaro rib crutch" What in the world is this?

This happened to me, but I don't think it's a bug per se.  Before it's built it'll say something about needing mud - and farming in actually muddy plots, like the ones you find in the underground, works fine.

Currently, underground farm plots only work if they are placed on muddied tiles.

When trying to place a farmplot over rock, it says 'needs mud OR soil'.
 So, I guess it's a bug that you can't plant on soil.

A suguaro rib crutch..
Crutch = those sticks you use for walking when you have a broken leg.
Suguaro rib = a rib of the Suguaro cactoid.

I must disagree. It does say 'Needs soil or mud', but the next two lines are 'No mud for underground farm','Mud is left by water'.
I.e. it is stated that mud is required for underground farms.  :)

Can we have a link to where he said that? Or a confirmation from someone is charge. This is kinda stalling my fort since there's no bloody fish anywhere.

You need a soil layer underneath your farm in order to farm without irrigation in this version, IIRC.

Current state is, that you cant plant unterground crop without irrigation, no matter the layer.
