I admire my bookkeeper's style
« on: April 01, 2010, 11:39:36 pm »

So I look over in the corner where I've stuck my bookkeeper's office, with orders to get to the highest precision.  Seems to take longer to do that in this version, and the skill gain from that slower too... or maybe just for this dwarf, though I tried to pick a dwarf who's quirks seemed good for a beancounter to me (great ability to focus, amazing spatial sense, lots of willpower, good memory, and a feel for music, with only a poor ability to manage or understand social stuff).

And when I look over, about two or three months after I've assigned the task, and the job's only improved to 22% medium, I see the dwarf's flashing.  I look closer and the bookkeeper's on her chair, sharing the perch with a hauled barrel of wine.  Her current job's the bookkeeping, and she appears to be doing in, but I'm really curious now.

Is her focus so high, she's able to plan to carry that wine for when she's next thirsty, so she doesn't have to get upo and waste time?  Is she so focused on the accounting, she forgot she had the barrel in hand?  Is this what's slowing the job down so much?  Bug or feature?

My bookkeeper did this as well. Bookkeepers are all about being efficient, aren't they? If it is a bug, it's hardly one that needs to be fixed.
