...or am I really lucky that my entire entrance hall is limonite, lignite, gems, sand, and bauxite? ...oh, wait, that's not white sand, that's marble! (Not to mention that the entire mountain is at least 40% ores and gems on the outside)

It also seems as if veins of ore can cut though things like microcline like it would the parent layer stone and soil can have ores and such it seems.

This is a masterful image of your FPS and the HFS. The HFS is committing a depraved act on your FPS.

Yep, it's wonderful. Bit colourful, but definately no shortage of minerals.

Yeah it is nice. I have struck like 5 different ores by simply digging stairs 10 z-levels down. :O

I've got a Magnetite cluster with Limonite and Hematite veins running through and out of it. It's silly.

So far I've got layers of Talc loaded with lignite bitumous coal, hematite, limonite, magnetite, garnerite, olivine, etc.

My starting seven had [SPEED:30], so I quickly dug up about 2 layers.  I had lignite and ores of iron coming out the ying yang.  In fact there was more than I could smelt.  I got a wave of migrants so I set 2 of them to be metalworkers.  Now they just make coke all day.  Once a smelter gets clogged, I build a new one and go again.

This is just silly.  But it is insanely awesome.

It was one of the things that bothered me about last version, but was also a bit endearing in some terrible ways: you could easily run out of resources or just flat out not have enough. I was on my 20th Fortress (or some odd number excluding aborted starts) before I ever got metal working up and running beyond some basic iron, and I've had more than one where I've basically mined out an entire layer just looking for more ore/coal.

First 2010 fortress I made, I was already seeing veins of malachite and some gems exposed right next to the wagon. Digging out my usual early fort, I also managed to find quite a bit of galena, too. Before my first winter, I went to building silver tables for my dining room. Not a bad way to go.

Yeah, my fort is absolutely FULL of random veins, cutting in and out. Let's just say my dining room has a rainbow of tables and chairs.

While I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, I think it would be better to have a parameter in the world gen to define how common/rare ores and minerals appear.  That way people who like having to search for ore can have those types of worlds, while those who like to swim in it can have theirs.

I've been having loads of stuff too. This could prove to be useful. I see more impressive megaconstructions on the way, can you?

I'm finding it difficult to find anywhere to build with all the criss-crossing veins of ore and coal and clusters of gems everywhere!  :o

I see golden crutches. And EVERY dwarf shall be one-legged. But behold, for this just makes them more powerful! Legendary crutchwalkers shall walk the [planetname here]! Badass cripples will reign in Dwarf Fortress!

(Yes, crutchwalking is a skill and I have a dream to make it shine)
