[0.31.01] Rock is negative distance from location

I tried to finish my line of flooring over to where the staircase would be, but all the available non-economic rock is -#### distance from that location. The number changes if I back out then press b-C-f again. It is inside a underground cavern with 3 Serpentmen Blowgunners and 3 Serpentmen Spearmen 10 z-levels below who haven't moved since they showed up.
