Micro suggestions
« on: July 14, 2007, 02:12:00 am »

These are some small, general ideas. Anything goes, really. Some of my thoughts:
- Dwarves get caught under statues when they place them in some tight areas.
-Have doors have an option to sweep debris into the next tile and close, to prevent rocks holding the doors open.
-have the option to make dwarves crush rocks, like talc and so on, so that no debris has to be cleaned up.

We should be able to make jailed dwarfs do this.

I agree. Even though usually jailed dwarves are in there just for 'hurting' a noble. ):

The crushing-for-no-debris idea is in parallel with current mining dynamics. To magically dispose of debris seems to already be part of the miner's set of spells. It'd be awesome to see a system that actually makes mining harder. That'd be a macro suggestion from me! :D

I agree that the mining time per tile should be increased.... But if your suggesting mine tailings, I am suggesting your nuts... The ABSOLUTE LAST THING this game needs is more hauling jobs generating mass amounts of lag.

Go ahead, try out job lag yourself... mine out a 200x200 room.... Create 10 engravers...   designate it to be smoothed... watch your FPS drop to zero... Watch it stay there....

OK

Consider the rock falling in the miner's head! :D

*edit* My scheme is fairly advanced, so it won't be introduced, ever. But it is not even going to multiply the amount of considerations per dwarf and frame, since it involves stacks that hide its contents.

Hmm...  Natural dangers.  They have been suggested but yes, watching miners who are not careful die due to rocks falling would be dwarfy.

As long as a specific counter exists to every danger...  RNG should not rule the day.

Dabbling dwarves might risk it, thus making peasants so much more of a wanted and wasted immigrant.
*edit* /me searches for new threads, definetly my to multiply the stone amount is not as cool as your to decimate it

My point of view exactly.  Losing should always be a learning experience, even if all you learn is "This here is dragon country!" or "Dwarves who live in glass fortresses shouldn't catapult boulders."

We do necro threads on occasion, I believe Toxey thought there was something to be added to the suggestion.
