That is fantastic. I'm going to have to examine all my statues and engravings next game.

My sculptors keep sculpting statues of things they detest. I don't want statues of flies and cave spiders... I think happiness has something to do with it.

I think outside of the art community, a statue of a fly can be referred to as a "pebble".

I got quite a few statues (in one worldgen) of a historical Human traveling into The Desert of Clasps and a bunch more of her taming Giant Jaguars there.

In another worldgen I got dozens of engravings of individual various murders of this one mountain titan. I wish that world hadn't crashed :(

It seems that when I place my statues I can no longer tell what they are statues of. It's very sad....

if you press t you can view the contents of a building. If you then click enter on the item and then press v you can see the description.

On topic, I have 6 statues in my dining room, 3 of my mayor, 3 of donkeys. Dwarf political humor?

Statue in the main foyer of the majestic mountainhome:

"This is a statue of a horse.  The horse is screaming."

I found some plump helmet men. They weren't aggressive, and for some reason my dwarves were incapable of attacking them, even with a kill order.

Maybe you should lure him into the still
and then order your cook to brew him into dwarven wine

This statue will start the Dwarven artists movement towards surrealism.

Wow, this brings me back to the good ol' 2d-days. I was thrilled to find out that I could look at engravings, and see what they were of. Also, it was so awesome that they were of something from the actual game.

This feels like discovering engravings all over again :D

You've been able to look at engravings for a while... for as long as I've been playing, anyway. It just depended on a value in the init file that used to default to NO but now defaults to YES.

Yeah, this is pretty awesome. My mason keeps making statues of the founding dwarfs and their accomplishments, so I'm saving the best for their rooms and tombs. The regrettably insane dwarf who served as militia commander is immortalized by a statue in the armorers office.

I got a statue of rats, then a statue of a famous dwarf and a REALLY nice statue of my expedition leader. I put the expedition leader center stage in my trade depot, for all to look upon the might and wisdom of his vision.

This may also work for engravings, as in the previous version, my engraver fell in love with the expedition leader, who was rather fond of bucklers. He engraved her surrounded by bucklers.
