If you don't have a armory/armsmaster/quartermaster or whatever the title was dwarf assigned (done in the nobles screen I believe), then assigning one might help.  If you do, it's probably a bug.  Lots of people are having equipment troubles with squad uniforms it seems.

The appearance or not of the armory dwarf position seems to be buggy. It has appeared on two of my forts at 20 dorfs but my larger 50dorf fort does not have it.

Nah, I've assigned one. I guess it's a bug then. Which is a shame, because I just got to the HFS,  and my sqauds have absolutely nothing to protect themselves with, except one dwarf has an artifact axe. All I'm going to say is that you need to see the new HFS for yourself.

The fun bit is going to be placing a constant guard around the pits to protect from spawning demons.

I don't seem to be getting immigrants anymore.

it has been saying

"your fortress attracted no migrants this season" for three seasons straight.

I'm stuck at 17 dwarves! it's so hard to get anything done.

Well were the three seasons summer, autumn and winter? Sure we do get migrant waves most seasons now, but its not a sure thing, and spring still seems to be the open season for me.

KOBOLDS are bit more dangerous in this version, it seems.

They keep coming in and cutting up my animals - they've killed a stray dog and wounded a hunting dog.

My military of THREE DUDES is even having trouble with them, probably because the kobolds' weapons are actually made of metal

Not a lot of progress so far on finding that adamantine sword underground.

I've got a really nice spot, with everything set up for a population boom... but I haven't received the dwarven caravan, and I'm in my second year. The elves have come twice, and the dwarven civ exists and is intact, but my last migrants were in the first year, and things are getting boring just sitting around. I don't want to lose this site.   :(

Well From what I can see, the dwarven caravan sets off at about mid autumn, but it takes time to travel across the land, so if your right next to them they show up quickly, as opposed to the other side of the map, were they take years.

Only problem is that I have yet to survive long enough to know how this effects trade agreements, because if a caravan sets off while the other is still making its way to you, would your trade agreement magikaly change the contents of the caravan, or would it take years for the agreement to take effect.

And further more, do they allow several caravans at once if they take too long?
