Maybe I've been spoiled by 40d, but the fact that farm plots must be placed on muddied ground is a major hurdle. At the very least we should be able to dump water directly on the ground, something that's not too out there in and of itself. Just removing the requirement that ponds be designated over channels would be great.

Otherwise I havn't run into anything I couldn't get used to. (I was surprised by the quadrupling of memory usage, though  :o )

Yeah, the new muddy underground farm requirement is kind of a pain. Only disappointment so far.

Oh yeah, and I have a 1/7 magma pool, and this wolf is barely taking any damage, except for his tail.

Not being able to build a farm on top of soil is actually a bug; that should get fixed soon enough.

Toady's delirious from sleep deprivation now, though, and I'm not much better. Might be awhile, but hey, at least we got the site up and running again. :)

(Works better than ever, too)

I seem to be able to build a farm on a soil, both on the surface and underground.

Also it seems like there are much more gems and minerals- Or maybe you just can see them better thanks to the giant caves.

Did someone encounter a forgotten beast yet?

Also i can only plant plants on muddy fields, too. Is this a bug or intended?

I actually haven't been on here in a long time. And I actually haven't PLAYED the new version beyond generating one world and messing around some with arena.

Speaking of, it seems anything with the [ARENA_RESTRICTED] tag in the raws can't be generated in an arena. Which means that I can't easily test whether the "hungry head" description is broken. I have Editpad set up to use a font that mimics Dwarf Fortress, and the description seems to contain the ’ character where there should be an apostrophe. This would not be noticeable except that that character looks like Æ in the DF font. I couldn't generate a hungry head in the arena (though I probably could get around that by modifying the raws, I haven't actually done so yet) so I can't directly test if this translates to the in-game text in exactly the same way.

The other issue I had is that, on first launching the game in fullscreen, it froze during the opening cinematic where the last dwarf is peeking his head through the hole. The fact that I was posting a Livejournal comment in the background during this might or might not have had an effect on the event; I was unable to reproduce it so take that as you will.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

Ah... I see where's the problem. It keeps assuming I have no seeds.

Random thoughts:

Channeling creates ramps istead :/

I have not yet figued out how the hell i order two-wrestlers squad basic commands (train, fight at certain point), 'm'ilitary->'s'hedulle->'o'rders seems not to work at all for some reason.

I was used to use 'm'ilitary menu for organizing dwarves and to provide me with 'unit litst lite' with only workers and military (and without bazilion dead thing from ten years ago).

Hunter ignores leather armor and bone bolts (put picks up quiver and crossbow).

Skilled immigrants are great news, no more useless soap makers!

First liaion was goblin that hunted down some wild horses with his crossbow and bolts.

First embark for "prepared firefly brains" as one of preset foods. Heh.

New skill display confused me abit, it looked like 'c' combat turns on/off dwarf as combat-permited.

New skill assigment is great, no more hunting that hunting labor!

Building multi-tile constrictions warns that you do not have enough materials as you resize it, neat.

Fat is now auto-rendered. Yay!

Oh, a couple more bugs (SPOILERS) -

Ah man, you not only got there before me, you got there with an actual in game screenshot rather than just my dinkering around with the raws with a DF font. :P

Can anyone else carry out any orders? I can't seem to be able to make my squad patrol the cave I'm in to check for any baddies.
