I am in and my name was free so akhier I'll be! I am a dwarven wizard and have completed a couple quests in the start area, up to after getting scroll from warehouse and am now being asked to protect a crystal thingamabob while the normal care take slacks off somewhere being healed.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

1) Pay attention to what's going on. If most of the party is below half health and the healer is screaming "Wait!" that might not be the best time to go running down the corridor towards that pack of troglodytes. I realize it's the dwarfy thing to do. But remember that there are real people behind the dwarves and they might not enjoy being as dwarfy as dwarves do.

Anyone have any other suggestions they'd like to contribute?
Addendum to 1:
Unless all accepted members of the group have previously agreed upon a high dwarfiness quotient.

Some advice for auctioning.

At least until you start hitting higher levels, or particularly rare items, don't try selling at the suggested price. Instead put a starting price of about 50%-60% and a buyout price of about 70%-80%. Sure you may not be making the absolute maximum amount you could but you are much more likely to actually see a sale, particularly of lower level items. Experiment with the time you list items for, but I tend to go for 24 hours.

Also auctioning becomes much more effective if you buy the minimal points from the store(the aprox $6 one). This permanently upgrades your account to premium status, which allows you to auction 20 items at once rather than the single item you can with a pure free account. You also get another 2 characters per server which will help with grinding the favour for store points later, along with a larger number of messages stored in your mailbox (50 instead of 10 I believe).

You can use the auction without this, but it probably wouldn't be worth it until you end up with really high value items.

If you do buy the points it's probably a good idea to hold onto them until you have enough points to purchase the packs that give about 100 or more favour, as you gain more points for each 100 favour your character acquires. Check here for the list of packs with how much favor each will givehttp://ddowiki.com/page/Adventure_Packs

I've been busy having much fun with the new dwarf fortress version recently. I'll try to get on tommorow morning and do some quests.

I fully expect everyone to act as dwarfly as possible in all circumstances. If you're not drunk and belligerant you're doing it wrong. :P

2 characters per server which will help with
grinding the favour for store points later

...DDO points awarded for favor are awarded and then they're yours, and attached to the account, not the character...so, it may be possible to make a new character, spend a few hours doing the easy quests in Korthos, then delete the character and repeat to accumulate points.

If it works, I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to do...but it might be.

EDIT:
Yes, the DDO wiki explicity states that this is possible. But at 100 favor needed for 25 turbine points, with most items costing hundreds, it would be a lot of effort. And it also won't allow what Metalax was proposing, as account upgrades cannot be purchased via the DDO store.

I think that it is better to just have fun with a character you like because time flies when your having fun but grinding was named such for a reason.

Don't worry, I'm barely level 4, so we're still contemporary.
