I don't understand. 4E is nothing like 3E.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

4e is very different from 3e.

It cuts the fat out of the non-combat game (Namely, the stuff that no one used/can be abstracted out) and greatly improves the combat.

Is anyone else getting a "Fatal Error: cannot load modules" or something to that effect?

I'm going to try redownloading Steam.

The CoC game is over or almost over.  Cerej had to drop out and last time he was the only one to show up.  Even if we get it together I doubt there will be more than one session.

This sounds bad, but when you factor in that D&D was never heavy on roleplaying mechanics in the first place, it works nicely.

Live Roll to Dodge game this weekend. I'll need to know how many people are still interested, and what time works best. No garuntees, since this weekend might end up in paperwork, but I set up pretty much everything.

I just need to know who is in, and what kind of avatar you would like to use.

Still, I rather liked the non-combat skills as presented in the 2d and 3d editions, rudimentary and often unbalanced as they were.  Then again, I'm not much for combat in the first place, so I'm just a bit of an odd duck perhaps.  ;)

There are better choices for tabletop games than D&D if you want a very combat light system. World of Darkness is probably the best example, since combat is so random you're likely to die if you try to do it.

I'm well aware of that fact, but trying to find people who want to play D&D is even a pain a lot of the time, forget one of the less well-known systems.  That, and, as far as tone is concerned, World of Darkness tends to be for me a bit too, well, dark.  As I said, I'm a bit of an odd duck, and in the end I'd rather stick with D&D's generally lighter tone, since you can still work out a way to do the non-combat stuff without the explicit rules if you're careful about it.  :)

I'm still open to hosting an 'X-Files' style of episodic World of Darkness campaign. Interest, guys?

It will be more 'X-Files' than Vanilla WoD, with you guys playing as FBI agents who investigate a number of paranormal cases.

EDIT: Maybe I'll mix in some 'Shadow of Innsmouth' or 'Twin Peaks' style action, too.
