The M16 was riddled with problems from the beginning as well, and look where it ended up? In any case, the G11 shouldn't even play a major part in most games, in my opinion. Like the rulebook says, the unreloadable caseless rounds make it almost impossible to find ammo for it anyway.
But that's neither here nor there. It's late, I'll sleep on it and let you know if I want in on the vanilla game tomorrow.
Did you just compare the original M16 to the G11? Oh you did, oh shit, oh man, this is funny.
Let's compare the problems.
M16 (Pre A1 variant)
Jams caused by fouling, keeping the bolt from pushing a new round into the chamber.
Jams caused by too hot of rounds. The uS government issued bullets with far too much powder, causing the case to rip on extraction, blocking rounds from being chambered.
Aluminum magazines that dented really easily, still a problem today.
Lack of cleaning kits or tools left soldiers without a fix to many of these problems.
Barrels were very prone to scratches and fouling
G11
The internals resemble a Swiss fucking watch, containing far too many parts
When a round is fired the powder block holding the bullet leaves a crapton of gunk in the chamber, ceasing the magazine from feeding
The caseless rounds broke upon any rough impact. If you dropped your magazine the cartridge inside would break in half, causing the magazine to be useless until you could take it apart.
If a malfunction occured you'd have to completely disassemble your weapon to fix it, which could prove most difficult considering the amount of parts involved and how they are placed.
Price was stupidly high
Ammunition was stupidly expensive
The M16s problems were easily fixed with the advent of the M16A1 and the M16A2. All they had to do was replace the barrel with a chrome lined one, use rounds with less powder, and ship out cleaning kits. Also put in the forward assist.
The G11s problems are still unsolved for the most part.
