I keep looking at GURPS, wanting to like it, but it's just so strange I can't tell if it would be awesome or a huge clusterf&*k

What about GURPS is confusing you?  I'll take any opportunity to yak about it, so ask away.

I think it's about as simple as an RPG can be (short of Minimus anyway).  You've got your four basic stats (and a few derived stats), and skills that are bought up from those stats.  You just record the effective value of the skill, and decide what you need to roll against for a task.  You roll 3d6, if it's under the stat or skill you succeed, if it's over you fail.

That can get a little confusing in combat, where every action has at least two rolls (whether the attacker hits, and whether the target defends), and automatic weapons fire can get ridiculous.  But where a lot of the confusion comes from I'm sure is all the modifiers and trait-effects and so forth.  Ultimately, GURPS is only as mind-meltingly complicated as you let it be, and a good GM will just hand-waive or invent modifiers as needed.

Dibs on keeping my All Flesh Must Be Eaten spot. I still have a smoldering rage at Cthulu for taking us through a few practice sessions and then bailing right as the tantalization reached maximum. It will easily be forgotten if I can watch or play that game though.

Til then, I express said rage in a very bitter way. When other people make laugh worthy jokes, I laugh. When Cthulu makes laugh worthy jokes, I chuckle.

Yeah, I know.  It was unforgivable what I did.  I bit off more than I could chew with the open-world thing and instead of toning it down I bailed.

This time, though, I'm structuring it more.  I've found a town on Google maps where I will set the campaign, and I'm slicing it up into zones which I will map out one or two at a time depending on where the party is likely to go next.  A clean-cut system like that means I'll be able to do things in bite-sized pieces, and also will be a great way to easily structure the other entities in the game, like survivor groups, major hordes, military forces, and the like.

Speaking of which, isn't there supposed to be a game tonight?  One of them anyway?  Everybody's already online.

Yes, I posted a message to similar effect on the group-page.  God help me, I'm a chat-whore.

Ho'kay.

Reasonableman is likely going to pussy out of D&D.

But his loss, he can either do it or not, we'll still be playing something either way.

AFMBE I wanna talk about with Cthulhu later so we can get a time for it set up and of course talk to potential players about characters.

Materials WILL be provided to those that need them, get your clients ready too.

Everyone else, we might be doing more Maid tomorrow, I dunno, depends on what happens.

... Right. I knew this was Today, I had prepared to have that time open to be with you guys. I did everything to prepare and anticipate this. The time came, it was 9:00...
And I was unbelievably tired for no goddam reason. This annoyed the hell out of me as I DID get a decent nights sleep the night before and didn't do anything particularly strenuous. And yet I felt like I stayed up for 48 hours and ran a marathon. So I set a timer for like an hour and hit the couch. This is one of those old bell alarms that sound like hell is having riots, so I figured I would check up on the group at that time and make sure things worked out.
 I wake up at 5:00.
 Crap.

Yeah, I'm sorry guys. I know how much this group has had troubles in previous weeks getting this together and how much trouble it causes. I'll try to do what I an to make it up.

Even though we only got around to actually playing for like 20 minutes, that was a good introduction.

And you guys wouldn't fucking believe the random Maid character I generated.  Just would not believe it.  It couldn't be better.

Okay, we are totally not doing Maid tonight, or maybe anything since Cthulhu has...Call of Cthulhu.

Go figure.

ANYWAY. We might talk a bit about AFMBE, but maybe not, I dunno, go play TF2.

Nah, I argue Paranoia is the easiest RPG to run.

GM: "Ok, you are all ordered down the hallway"
Player1: "But I don't want to go down the hallway"
Player2: "Kill the traitor!"
(several combat rounds later...)
Player2: "Ok, we go down the hallway."
Player1: 'I'll get you when the GM brings me back..."

Simplicity in itself.  Granted, the "rules" of Paranoia can be applied to all RPG's, but no other game system lays out exactly how much control (total) the GM has over the players.

Posting in a thread to track it.

Because I can't be arsed reading it right now. Maid is fun, though. Maid is fun.

Also good to see you acting like a Retarded Faggot, Aqizzar. I prefer to call it 'talking to friends on Steam' but you know, whatever you think is more appropriate.

Just mentioning that I made membership to the group by invite only again, given someone I needed to remove from the group. If you're on the fourm and want in PM me so I can invite you. Please link to your steam profile too.
