Double posting to say I was reading GURPS 4E today. Steve Jackson talks about how important it is for the system to be easy to read and follow.

This is in the centre of a solid page of text in the introduction of one of two 250-350 page books that don't give any indication which one you are supposed to read first.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

It very clearly labels one book being for Players and the other being for Game Masters.  Most of the Player book is a giant catalog of skills, abilities, disadvantages, magic, and items.  Just like all rulebooks (seriously, check out the MaidRPG's tables).  The other big chunk is rules for crap like heat and marching and jumping that nobody is beholden to pay attention to.  Most of the Campaigns book is concerned with world-building, not rules, and a big stock-setting with example characters.  Yes, it's a bit longer than most RPG rulebooks because it tries to be universal, but you're free to pick and choose what you need, and the gameplay itself is simpler (to me anyway).

Speaking of which, anyone doing anything this weekend?  I'll be online Friday at least.

I may or may not be. Shitloads to do this week. Need to make sure I don't fail a class or three due to excessive lazyness.

Which one contains information on how to play the game after you make the characters? That's the important bit.

I'll be on, but it seems like everybody here is dying off and disappearing. Somebody would have to at least GM something. Any takers? Anybody?

If I can get five definite signups, I will do that 4e campaign.  I can't guarantee it will last forever, but I can guarantee we will at least finish one quest, and probably more.  I have too many awesome ideas to let this die, and I found some monster creation tools online that will allow for some awesome and unique encounters.

Hey now.

Call everyone dead if you want, it's only 'cause they don't wanna run a game or no one wants to play in their game.

I should start something just to spite you.

But fuck that.

This game-group would be alive if anyone was online when they say they'll be online.

Sure, I've fucked up every game I've been party to, but at least I tried.  You have no one to blame but yourselves for nothing happening.
