On the run.
« on: March 27, 2010, 07:15:32 pm »

You are a citizen of an unnamed country. A totalitarian regime is in power and it rules with an iron fist.  Your country is fairly modern with most modern conveniences. You live in a very poor, rural village in a small shack. You are a local fisherman at the age of 19. You have been recently accused of attacking and killing a government representative. You don't have much money and not many possesions but you do have some basic survival skills. You know that they are coming for you and you need to skip town quickly. You think the village will support you but if things take a turn for the worse, you will be on your own.

You are currently in your shack. There is a cast iron stove on the west wall, a simple matress on the north wall, a door on the east wall, and a cabinet on the south wall. The shack is approxametly 5x5x3 meters. There is a small table in the center with an unsturdy chair. There is a single light hanging from the ceiling. Your 20 gague shotgun is by the door next to your fishing pole. There is a box of birdshot on the table along with a rucksack. You know that there is a tin of beans and a tin of pineapple in the rucksack along with a canteen full of water. In your cabinet there are some simple tools. A multitool (pliers, knife, flashlight), a hammer, a kitchen knife, fishing tackle (6 hooks, 20 meters fishing line), and 1 kilogram of smoked fish.

Grab the gun/ammo, put the food, multitool, and fishing tackle in the rucksack, grab the pole, and RUN LIKE HELL to the nearest woods, preferably one we know has a lake.

You grab the supplies from the cabinet and place them in the rucksack. You wear the rucksack and sling the shotgun over your shoulder. You grab the fishing pole and prepare to head out. As you step outside you are on the dirt road that you know all too well. To the south, the road leads to the quay at the ocean-side. You know your skiff is moored there and you know that you are on a coastal plain with no significant groups of trees for miles around. As you step outside, you spot your cousin, Tom who motions you over. You look back towards the quay deciding what to do.

You make your way over to Tom, looking around and about as you walk. Once you stop near him he pats you on the back and hands you a bottle of whiskey which you promptly stow in your rucksack. He tells you that there is a heavily armored APC two towns over and that it is heading this way. He tells you that there is a full can of gasoline behind the local quayside pub and that people are waiting for you down there.

I have an idea...

Get to the pub.

(Question: Can fire burning on the outside of a armored vehicle roast the crew alive? I don't particularly remember.)

You begin walking southwards and stick your hands in your pockets. You are pleased to find a red lighter that is almost full. You come upon the pub and walk around back and spot the gas can. You reassure yourself and step inside. As you enter, all eyes turn towards you. The owner, John, who is standing behind the bar nods and motions you over. You walk up to the bar and stand directly in front of John who passes 50 dollars over to you. He says that the money is from the townsfolk who wish you luck. He tells you that you might want to hop the border, 800 miles away. You nod, thank him and all the others in the bar, and step outside. You walk around the bar, grab the gas can, and toss it into your skiff. You check the fuel tank on the small motor and see that it is half full. As you are standing on the dock, Tom comes running towards you. He says that the APC has just passed Crawbank, the next village over and will be here very soon. You begin to panic. It begins to drizzle. What do you do?

No, take out the APC.

Make several molotovs using the contents of the bar, and also throw fuel can to wet the apc and set the fuel alight, thus baking the crew inside alive.

You hop in the boat and drop your supplies next to you. You kneel down and yank the ripcord, which snaps off in your hand. The engine putts once and falls silent. Now you're pissed. You sling your rucksack back over your shoulder, load your shotgun with four shells, and prepare for a fight. You hop back out of the boat and into the bar. After telling John what happened, you ask for some empty bottles. He hands you six beer bottles. After grabbing some rags from a dumpster you head back to the boat and make six molotovs from 2 litres of gasoline. You meet Tom one last time and he tells you that the APC is just outside town. There is a central street leading from the quayside all the way north to the main road, about 3/4 of a kilometer. There are a few side streets but most of the buildings cluster around the main street. The largest building in town is the pub and you can tell people are already preparing for a fight. You have only a few moments to decide your battle plan.

Alright, depending on the APC type, we could throw molotovs at it. If it's an M113 or a BTR-40, we could easily just throw molotovs at it.

If we have birdshot, I suggest we aim for the legs of the government personnel if they wear body armor.

If anyone has a high-powered or medium-powered rifle, ask them to let loose on the soldiers. Everyone with shotguns should take up ambush positions near doorways and windows, and shoot at the enemies heads or legs. That includes us.

I say most people should scatter to nearby buildings, and that a medium/large sized group should be in the bar.

You walk into the pub and attempt to rally the citizens. Most of them decline and say they will help you to an extent. Only two agree to fight with you; a 16 year old named Jack and his brother, a 22 year old named Rob. Jack has a .22 rifle with 36 rounds and a small shovel. Rob has a .44 magnum revolver with 9 rounds and a machete. The two look nervous but Jack looks at you with a sense of respect. Jack is only fighting to look after his brother. The molotovs are distributed evenly and the three of you take up positions on either side of the main street, behind cover. Not long after, an engine is heard barreling down the street. The APC comes into view.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It stops in front of your house and five soldiers come out. Two with combat shot guns, two with sub machine guns, and one with a LMG. All the squadmembers are equipped with body armor and ballistic headgear. Their legs are padded but their arms have little or no protection. They also have no neck protection. They all take up positions near your door and burst in with a flashbang. The shotgunners rush in and soon come back out, bewildered. The squad is on high alert. The rain is coming down a bit harder now. What will you do, fight or flight?

2 throw molotovs at the soldiers, with one focused on the LMG user. Another molotov user should throw some at the APC.

When we run out/Firefight starts, attempt to get everyone t shoot into their upper arms into their Brachial Arteries and some bullets should go to their Jugular veins in their neck.
