Awesome, now if only my one of my civ's would have something decent. I swear, it's like the symbols civ's pick is the very first random crap someone drew into a rock.

My latest civ managed to pick a four-pointed star, which is actually pretty cool. Unfortunately, the local government chose a bucket.

Just realised it isn't -my- fortresses symbol, but the local moutainhome's. My symbol is a oak secret door, which isn't so bad I guess.

Is it possible to find out the local/civ symbols without them showing up in art?

I got a hatch cover for my civilisation. They also seem to have a hang up about being killed by elves. No idea what my local symbol is.

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

My civ, The Godly Tombs, chose a Giant as its symbol, which is fairly good.

My fort, The Town of Culmination, merely chose dwarves... So freakin' uncreative.

I forget what my civ chose, but my fort, the Ashenbaldness of Humor, chose some damn leaves.

My civilization decided it would be a good idea to have a mutilated dwarf corpse as their symbol.

I got a 'triumphant dwarf atop a mountain of elves'  once.

I loved that mod.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

No I'm not psychic. I just know that this is dwarf fortress. and the most stupidly awesome and inexplicable thing is probably going to be the first thing to happen.

I've got a 5 pointed star for my fort and a scepter for my civ. Pretty blah honestly, but given that the rest of the engravings around it are all about the migrants I let die of thirst and goblins getting chopped up by weapon traps I'll let em live.
