You know, for some reason I was waiting for him to do so, but I have no idea why.

Labs cuts off a blade from the fan, then passes it to Cheddarius, who places it silently in the dirt as Labs begins on the next one. After your done, Cap'n crawls into the shaft, followed by Cheddarius, Labs, Inteuniso, and a non-discript recruit (diakron, when he makes himself a character). It is very dark inside.

The tunnel veers into a sharp incline, one you could never possibly climb. The wall of the duct is now very thin.

you miss. You can hear a soft sniffle out of the hole. A hunched Xorg shadow can be seen making it's scuttling way to your position. You can feel your heart beating.
