Tweaking world generation?

I would love to see some options for editing the world generation parameters, perhaps just exposing them in the raw files, or an option under the menu.
Why?
For fun. I want a ridiculously large sinister glacier, hundreds of volcanoes, and enough chasms criss-crossed with rivers to make it look like the world is falling apart. Possibly more demon pits as well. Or perhaps I feel like having nothing but one giant flat desert, with no aquifer, and magma (Although I have found this before in the normal world generation, but it's incredibly rare, at least the no-aquifer part). Perhaps I want a chasm to appear right by the ocean. Either I could generate worlds till the real one ends, or Toadyone (the magnificent) could make an update with this option.

Thirded - although I'm more interested in it to help generate an ideal fortress location. My constraints are pretty strict and they almost never happen in the default world generation. If I could specify, for example, increased volcanic activity and more waterfalls, that'd help a ton.

If not, or at least something that could happen sooner, how about a search feature when placing you fortress?
Have it highlight areas with whatever you specify. Such as:
-Specified soils/minerals/rock types
-Water
-Magma
-Chasms
-Demon Pits
-Aquifers
-Biome type/local wildlife
-etc.

I spend too much of my precious time looking for a good place to play.
