But we don't even HAVE a "go-kart style killbot/personal transportation." We need money anyway. Chemicals are probably our best bet for money.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

You'll most likely flow into your endgame kinds of stuff - you'll be trucking along and realize somewhere along the way you developed a Von Neumann Killbotics Factory that can be delivered by a rocket and you might as well use them.

I doubt it. Besides, why would we need to? We could have quantum computers figure it out for us by the time we get to that level of technology.
