I believe the term you seek is "FUCKING LAZORS."

Directed Energy Weapons are relatively weak in the early game, and if you ever lose hold of one they can be rapidly reverse-engineered. Additionally, some of the parts you need to invent them can be difficult to obtain. Finally, specialized armor can greatly mitigate their effectiveness.

Compensating for this, they consume negligible ammunition and their mid- and late-game growth potential is almost unparalleled. They are also highly effective against conventional armor.

I object to this rampant lazery. I propose KILLBOTS would be much better suited to showing those fools. Alternatively, bioengineering.

I do grudgingly acknowledge that advanced lazorz would be very nice ON killbots, but maintain that we don't want to be pidgeonholed into one type of mechanical horror.

robots would be good for a secondary discipline, but as a primary discipline they lack in subtlety; any fool can build a simple robot in his garage, and what is an advanced robot but a simple robot that has more parts? Yet a LAZOR- a LAZOR requires SCIENCE to build, not petty ENGINEERING. For a full plan of disciplines I would go with LAZOR, robots, and some form of high output compact power source, which would allow LAZOR KILLBOTS with INTEGRATED REACTORS right off the bat.

I feel the opposite; lazorz have only one real function, that of targeted destruction. Killbots, on the other hand, can be made with a wide array of functions using a staggering number of methods; including, I might add, the delivery of said lazorz. They are also prone to endless modification and adjustment due to this- we can make lazerbots, or four-armed lazerbots, or flying clawbots, or tunneling harvestbots, and so on and so forth. Variation amongst lazorz is largely limited to size, efficiency, and other base characteristics.
