This one's tough. You said we start with PHYSICS at 1 regardless, right?

I'm gonna have to say CHEMISTRY. Too much fun stuff; what can't flamethrowers synergize with?


I'm personally viewing PROGRAMMING as simply a KILLBOT enabler, so I don't think we need it as a secondary, especially since in theory we'll use it every time we use KILLBOTICS. BIOLOGY is a very close second for my vote, but I'm still thinking of our biominions as simply pilots for our glorious KILLBOTS, so I don't see us needing them soon or quite as well-built as our other stuff. PHYSICS sounds fun (and very KILLBOT-friendly) but it's something we'll use constantly to slightly improve everything we do, so I don't see it as a good primary or secondary skill.

Most of the rest either isn't of interest (ECTOBIOLOGY) or isn't of interest until we're much better established (ATOMICS).

 I agree, CHEMISTRY seems like a good secondary. Programming will raise on its own quickly enough, and PHYSICS already comes at level one. Later on when we can afford it we can dabble in ATOMICS for some of the sweet upper-level stuff.

Hrmmm... Regarding skill increases, if I had some skill in Programming and Biology, and I were to, say, replace my brain with a brain chip, and then implant the brain chips of other less brilliant scientists into my skull, with my own as the dominant personality, would that increase my skills in any way? Or at least increase the rate at which my skills increase? I see this as a potential late game method to expand into multiple scientific fields, which would be necessary if we ever do decide to go with a more stylish finish, like my grey goo shenanigans.

Two Killbots frogmarch the unruly minion to our laboratory, where we are prepped to install our latest version of prototype cyborg kit. Tests haven't fared so well up to this point for the augmentees, but we have learned and refined our process.
Due to this one's rebellious nature, we start with his head. Soon we are scooping grey matter in to the rubish bin, to make room for our improvements.

I'll have to go fro biology. Sure, flamethrowers and rockets are fun, but explosives don't necessarly require lots of chemistry, there are several home-made recipes. Creating a cybernetic organism, however, will require biology from the start, and is awesome enough to spend our secondary skill on. So I vote BIOLOGY

To be fair, Eagle, the fun with explosives starts with simple Reactives but it doesn't get REALLY legit until you start toying with mixing Purified Volatiles and/or Purified Reactives together.

Eh, I didn't mean making more of myself, so much as improving myself. More virtual memory means a better computer; more brain chips to access means a more powerful mind. And, given that said extra brain chips would be coming from other scientists, this means their knowledge of other scientific fields is also accessible.

As for brain chips in minions, mind controlled minions are a good investment, but a mind controlled populace sounds much more appealing to me. Such an endeavor would be best done without anyone knowing of it.

For a Secondary, I think Biology would be for the best. A dead scientist is hardly an impressive one, and since it doesn't look like we'll be using it as often as our other skills, an early boost would be much appreciated. I considered having Physics or Programming as a Secondary, but I can see how they'll grow quickly anyways.

It has a much broader array of killy stuff than chemistry, i mean, viruses, diseases, enhancements, mutants, new species, combining stuff, man eating plants, it just doesn't end.
Also if we develop it enough, we could even stage an alien invasion with artificial creatures in big robot spaceships
