You know, I'm sure that would smear our pride all over the wall, like so many elven traders.

You eventually decide that THERE IS A GENIUS WITHIN YOUR GENIUS who decided to make the fragmented pieces of your mind into a democracy that had public voting.

You begin experimenting with a spybot program, but without an actual spybot to test it on (and lacking the ability to make a virtual simulation of the spybot within your computer or the processing power to make use of one if you could) you don't get very far. The very idea of coding a dating sim is beneath consideration, of course.

So, you decide to build a cage for the rat - you could easily cut the plate in half, then- Ah!

You slam the remote control and the Anklebiter lurches backwards, capturing your first lab rat!

You'll have to decide on a final design for it.

Again.

Because I don't want to look back and you need to name the number of parts you think sufficient.

I think, cutting a tin plate in half to create two triangles, drilling holes in the triangles near the sides, and pulling now abundant copper wire through the holes to create a barrier, will do as a cage.
So... tin plate x1?

No, bioligy is still awesome, imagine ratborgs piloting giant robots, way awesome.
Anyway, cut a tin plate diagonally, drill holes in the sides of both plates and connect them with wires

Don't forget to put a metal bar inbetween, or the plates will just fall inwards. Unless the copper wire is very sturdy copper wire.

That or take another tin plate and fold it at the ends and put it inbetween the other plates, perhaps solder it togheter, now we should be able to move it around without Bob escaping

Put dah rat in da bucket. Put a plate on the bucket. BOOM! Instant cage!

Honestly another idea involved a wire cage would probably be better :P

lol, i doubt it, cages are for people without buckets. the question is, do we have buckets?
i propose we just tie the rat to something, put a copper wire around his foot and tie it to. then pet him cuz he's cute

Do not pet. He will bite us!

Anyways, rats are too good at getting out of things and we need to able to observe him for experiments.

Head out and go dumpster diving! We're looking for an old aquarium someone is tossing. Since we don't have to worry about cracks and water, this should work fine and we shouldn't have difficulty finding one.

Is there any place we could visit where it might be more likely?

If that doesn't work, we'll have to steal one.

What? Steal an aquarium? Searching trough unworthy people's garbage?  When we can make our own cage?

We'd need some steel wire to make a sufficiently resilient cage with suitably small holes so that the rat doesn't get out, that still allowed sufficient monitoring capability. A disused aquarium or a broken microwave oven could make a nice "holding cell".

So, how about a return trip to the junkyard? I'm not sure what constitutes "junk" in your american junkyards, but if it could get us a microwave oven (even without the circuitry/magnetron), it'd make a passable cage. Bonus points for minor radiation shielding.

Failing that, a shopping cart? That'd give us enough structural material for a few cages.
