You decide to bite on the obvious plot hook oh wait you mean head to the baseball diamond.
Probably you're going to do something phenomenally stupid yet ridiculously awesome, judging by how the day's gone so far. Mushroom binge in the woods notwithstanding, of course. You're still trying to forget about that.
You leave the restaurant and begin making your way to the new baseball diamond they built to coincide with the release of the movie "Field of Dreams" which they released... last... ow, your head hurts. A whole lot, man does it hurt. What were you thinking of? You forget.
The pain in your head begins to dissipate as you head down the street to the baseball diamond. Wow, it's getting worse as you go along. It's almost as if the invaders just stopped devastating things after they reached the end of the street and headed into your part of the town. I mean, granted, it was bad back here but oh God.. There's the rubble of a building blocking the street and there is blood everywhere. And body parts. And guts and organs and... desperate, sooty hand prints covering the ground slightly beyond patches of charred earth and... you feel a bit queasy, actually. You raise your head to the sky and walk on.
Two blocks later, you turn left and there's the baseball diamond. You quickly jog to the pitch. The smell that started about a block back, is getting worse. You can now identify it as charred... something, mixed with blood and excrement and... okay, you can't identify everything but it's one mother of a smell. The baseball diamond appears totally unaffected by the disaster. The ground is still fresh and green and there are people playing on the field that you didn't see when you were jogging up. It strikes you as odd. In fact, a few things strike you as... as...
