Is it just me, or have my clowns been incredibly lucky that they haven't had a map yet where carp were a problem?

Well it seems that for some people they are never a problem, and for some people they are hell incarnate with fins, most likely because they only show up in certain locations, so people who like those places are plagued by them, while others don't see all the fuss.

Yeah, those ones can walk on land.  :p

Hopefully this is fixed at some point, but until then, watch out on the seaside for land-walking zombie whales.

Zombie whales are no laughing matter! Shortest embark ever.  :(

Okay, actually it was quite hilarious as it ate my dwarves and their war dogs one by one, multiple mining picks embedded in it as they tried to fought back but failed utterly.
Fuuuun times.

EDIT: Why not set up the carptraps to a lever that opens and closes hatches above them all, making it safe for a caravan to come through? As added anti-caravan fun, set up another lever connected to a drawbridge. Then when the caravan comes, they don't rush blindly into a ferocious martial-trance frenzy-carp trap, so no "FUCK YOU YOUR CARP KILLED OUR CARAVAN WE'RE GOING TO WAR WITH YOU NOW HAHAHA" from whichever side got eaten. Of course, the drawbridge-hatch cover setup also works in the opposide direction.

"A vile force of darkness has arrived!"
*Leverpull*
*Drawbridge up*
*Leverpull*
*Hatchcover open*
*Leverpull*
*Drawbridge down*
Fun Ensues.

My system of automated hatches approximates this - if you have the pressure plates only trigger on enemies, they should only open when an offending force enters, and not on caravans, which just see a hallway.  And it's safe enough to use with untamed carp, since the hatches don't open for your dwarves (of course, pitting the carp in is a little dangerous).
