An amazing and yet strange embark..
« on: March 22, 2010, 03:17:25 am »

Hi all, i have found a very good (yet rather strange) embark, which i will give you the info about and show you in these pictures:

Dwarf prospector image:

not pictured: aluminum (125) and

This the resources of this embark are noteworthy in itself, but the map also has magma, flux (and sand i think) Even more strangely, the

is actually accessible from my starting location, and goes through several z levels. Here is a screen shot:

Even more bizarrely, you can see right into the pit, and can even view the various lovely engravings within:

I'll check this again in a bit, if theres any interest I'll upload the world and save.

Whoa.

Is the clown pit accessible on embark? (from erosion)

Where can I find Dwarf Prospector?

Also, I like that last engraving.

Judging by that one in-game screenshot it appears more that you used Reveal rather than adamantine being visible upon embark. You seem surprised that there's engravings in the clown-pit as well as multi-z adamantine veins, which makes me think that this is the first HFS you've embarked on. Could you clarify this? I think the only person thus far to ever gen a world with pre-exposed HFS (not just an adamantine vein, which is rare but not unheard-of) was Toady, and that was during testing phases.

First, I rather like the first and later two engravings very much; I'm annoyed my fortresses never have fine art like that adorning the walls.
Second, Retro has a point--this does look like Reveal, not an initially-exposed vein. It's unclear what was meant by "accessible from embark," I think. They're not exposed, but merely...accessible?

apologies for the lateness. Also, i have to confess that i did use reveal, but i forgot i had it on! nevertheless, the good stuff is very close to my starting location, about 30 tiles or so away. (At least where i spawned, on z level 148)

Oh, also this was generated with the relentless assault mod. (Not that it should make any difference to world gen)

as promised here is the save folder:

Worldgen/location is also acceptable.
