As a comment though, Requiem for a Dream is a movie. Lux Aeterna is the song.

All this music has given me the urge to get around to making a song list for more of my characters. So much for sleep. :(

Music without lyrics is the bomb.

Hungry Sword
Hymn of War
War of Kings
Battle with Archie(have to wait until the battle actually starts)
Coat of Arms by George Kenny

For 'wordy' music, there's always Privelegio Raro.

I believe that it is called instrumental music.

THIS THREAD NEEDS MORE OF IT.

GO MY MONKEY FRIENDS.

I suppose I should post something since I'm here... although I really don't know any 'epic' songs.
Wait! HERE!

I'm not usually a fan of instrumentals. A song is a way to communicate a story, and it's rare to be able to do that without words. The best one can usually do is emotion, or a series of emotions.

Queen: Don't Stop Me.

I wonder if theres any non-epic queen songs?

Perhaps?

Any bad queen songs?

Don't make me laugh. HA!

Wut. A fuck load of music does not communicate a story, even with words.

Example 1: Purple Haze.

Also, lots of instrumental is epic and kicks ass. Also, 15+ minute songs = automatically epic.

Some Rhythm:

RJD2 -- Smoke & Mirrors (Inspiring and mellowing. Helped me unwind rather quickly while under stress and focus on what I'm doing when not under stress.)
RJD2 -- Ghostwriter (Another masterfully crafted song. Good enough rhythm get a pulse of creativity from.)
RJD2 -- The Proxy (Nice background beat.)

DJ Shadow -- Organ Donor

Some Anime Tunes:

The Pillows -- Last Dinosaur (These guys rock with the whole soundtrack of FLCL.)
The Pillows -- Funny Bunny (Nice song for a rainy day.)
The Pillows -- Crazy Sunshine (Always seems to give me an emotional powerup. Then again, remembering the episode's climax...)
The Pillows -- I Think I Can (And an awesome song to end the series with.)

Uverworld -- D-Techno Life (One of the better Bleach Openings; held my interest when the next season rolled on...)
High and Mighty Color -- Ichirin No Hana (...But this one was more awesome.)

Origa -- Rise (Freaking awesome intro to Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd Gig)

And some more regular music:

Sublime - Santeria (Practically a staple of the local tavern.)
Sublime -- Badfish (Nice tune to mellow out to.)
Ten Foot Pole -- Old Man (Holy crap, the lyrics get more relevant as time passes. Plus, having listened since middle school. I'm the old man now.)
Bad religion -- You

And a couple classics:

Cab Calloway -- Minnie The Moocher (Screw it, watch all of Blues Brothers. The entire soundtrack rocks.)
The Blues Brothers - Sweet Home Chicago (The Blues Brothers version in full)
Jimi Hendrix -- All Along The Watchtower (Can't forget ol' Jimi.)
Jimi Hendrix -- Fire (Good enough to be my ringtone for a decent amount of time.)
Jimi Hendrix -- Crosstown Traffic

Jimi Hendrix/The Beatles (Mashup by ccc) -- She Said Traffic (Wait... I think we crossed wires here...)

The Beatles -- She Said
The Beatles -- HELP!
The Beatles -- Let it Be
The Beatles -- Hey Jude
The Beatles -- All You Need is Love
The Beatles -- I Am the Walrus (I am here; yes, you are here; yes, you are me and we are all together...)
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever (...Okay, let's face it, The Beatles are made of awesome. But if you want a modern rendition of this awesomeness which is actually a decent film as well, watch "Across the Universe". Speaking of which...)
The Beatles -- Across the Universe

And a closer for now, some classic rock:

Aerosmith -- Sweet Emotion
The Sweet -- The Ballroom Blitz
Heart -- Crazy On You
Queen -- Bohemian Rhapsody (Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide though it's escape from reality...)

Of course, I can also advise checking out the Trope page of Crowning Music of Awesome, but where's the fun in that?

Keeping Track of Awesome. Will post when I have the resources

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)
