I noticed that there's more females north of the "Finally.." section. I think this part of the forum scares away the women. It's somewhat devolved into VN again, which is why I don't visit it much anymore.

Also, quite a few of the people that seem to be female don't mention it in their profile. And a lot of males don't mention it either. Take that into account too

I know plenty of women who like games like DF, but they'd rather be posting in Facebook than in a forum about nothing. And plenty of men who are like that.

Not really. Women, for obvious reasons, are less likely to join a forum and talk to a bunch of men than men are.

I think that if you don't change your account settings, the standard setting for gender would be " ", which would royaly screw with the male/female ratio. So to actualy calculate the amount of femalse on the boards, you have to know the amount of people who have actualy set their gender...
