Blood Dusk the game is up, however Blood Dusk the website remains down. Since the website is down, just go here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blood-Dusk/105747018096

Click on notes, and it'll give some basics on connecting. Also, once you have an account and character setup you can use the in-game help file system if you've never played before.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I've been playing since around the time it came back up, as a character by the name of Zain. The combat is quite fun compared to many other MUDs, but there's definitely a lot of things that go unexplained. The teachers for the various careers are located in all sorts of locations, most of which aren't on the map you get when you begin. And, to make things more troublesome, I have yet to come across any other maps. Also, AFAIK there's no consolidated list of all the various skills that each career gets, so it's up to experimentation to find the one that suits you.

Hey, I just checked the mud on the off chance it was back online, and weirdly enough it's just come back online today... My subconscious must have psychic powers or something...

EDIT: As it turns out it was just the website... the full game has been online for a few days.
EDIT2: And I did not notice any of that stuff up there... How did this escape my notice? *facepalm*

Ah yes, it was I who notified you of your error, haha. ;)

Most of the game goes unexplained because Athelstane requested it be that way. He is the game creator who seems to want Blood Dusk to be experienced rather than tackled with all sorts of fore knowledge. I'm a long time player, and there are many things I do not know. Some out of shear laziness, I could care less, or just never got around to explore it.

However, other players are allowed to relinquish helpful information to those seeking solely based on the discretion of said player(s). I am typically willing to help out, but I won't hand over all my knowledge on a silver platter - not that it is a lot, mind you. I currently go under the names Rose or Azur.

Oh, I don't really mind not having all the knowledge right at the start. I'm starting to get the hang of the city, though I'm still afraid of venturing too far beyond the walls as I don't want to get lost  ;)

In any case, I'm having fun with my craftsman/gladiator Zain. I created an alt to try out some of the other careers, but Music seemed a little too focused on groups and theology just confused me. I think I'll eventually try to find the apocruphyc (sp?) trainer to see what that's all about. Apparently it should be somewhere west of the city...

The only thing that really annoys me is the fact that vendors don't give you change when you buy things.

You'd be surprised the newcommers who want to know every inch of the game, and they haven't even figured out how to put the ruby psygem on, lol. But I didn't mean come across the way I did, I was just extremely tired and unable to sleep :). But as I said, I can help if need be.

Managed to find the apocruphyc trainer!  Had to wade through a bunch of aggro monks though, and I think the will on my alt is too low for it. But, the starting skills seem interesting ...  8)

I agree, it's why I tried not to give too much spoilery information out, mostly I'm just concerned about getting people going.

Oh and good luck on going apoc, it's tough but brings a lot of fun rewards.

Onward to mapping a bunch of rooms that all have the same description. Stupid sewers.

Well what do you expect, it's a dark tunnel with stinky water, that looks like every other dark tunnel with stinky water... Also they only have about 4 points of interest, all of which are pretty easy to navigate to without a map... Or maybe I'm just so dead set on not using maps for these things... I dunno.

I just like doing tedious things, shhhh. I could just write a C# script to do it automagically after all.

Edit: The bonus experience and points of interest down there were certainly worth it too.

Edit 2: And now onward to making a map of the city I can actually use. (Or never use, as by the time I'm done I'll have it memorized anyway.)
