I'm in, too. As Shadow. I'm kind of lost right now, though. Done with the tutorial, but I can't find new maps, nor any hints about the location of some career buildings (like knifer and taoken).

I'm on right now since Uni was canceled due to being underwater.

While I'm liking a LOT of stuff about the game so far, the fact that I have to have a lesson from some rare dude before I can stab someone with my knife is frustrating.

Especially since I can run into a lot of NPCs with knives... Why couldnt one of them show me the basics? Better yet, can you learn some skills from others PCs? (This seems to be a MUD standard, but so does NPC interaction and quest stuff which this game obviously does not have)

I don't think you can learn from other PCs.

Man, this person under a bridge dragged me underwater, and it said that I had explored some of it, and the only waterfall I find obviously has a cave behind it. Being genre savvy is useful in this game.

I've wandered and managed to find about half or three quarters of the trainers. Haven't found the knife trainer, but I wasn't particularly looking for them. The (first? don't know how training progression works yet) taoken trainer is:

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Shellycoats are a bitch... in fact most of the mythological creatures in that forest are pretty hard to fight. There's a lot of xp in them though.

The game's good, but I don't like the feeling of being perpetually lost, blindly fumbling around and trying to uncover how the subtler (and not so subtler) things work. I appreciate having a need for exploration, but this is often too much as there's not the slightest hint of guidance after the rudimentary tutorial. No documentation nor guides nor even maps for more than half the city.

As far as enemies are concerned, given I don't know who I should be fighting, given my skills, I end up with NPCs/monsters who are either too easy or too hard.

Also, I experimented with blacksmithing, but it turns out it's probably both prohibitively expensive (given the tools and resources you have to procure to train-grind) and not viable as a 'side' career. I'm already Taoken/Knifer, so I don't have room for more than two ranks of smithing, which isn't enough to craft swords or knives. So that rank increase was a waste of 1000 experience. I hope demoting skill groups refunds some experience...

Bottomline, I'm gonna keep playing for a bit, but I hope it improves soon. Real soon. Or else! >:(

There is a full map of the town on the website.

As for NPC difficulty, have you tried using the 'consider' command on them?

Yeah, forgot to mention I had found that map on the site. It helps to some extent.

As for NPCs, yeah, I do that all the time. It's just that the people/things I come across are either too easy or too hard. I've barely found decent NPCs I can fight outside town.

This game needs more players. I'll do my best to spread the word, and you all should too.

I got to say, I'm really enjoying this game so far, and thats pretty amazing considering how few people are here and how little there seems to be in the way of quests and depth and such.

The mechanics systems has some flaws (you can't even use a dagger without the skill? Come on, it should be THAT hard to figure out!), but I think that overall it is REALLY nice!
