*jawdrop*

Wait, you figured out how to actually collect and save water on our waterless map?

That the severely wounded no longer need die?

Grimlocke, sir, I salute you.  Again and again and again, while I desperately try to think of a way to better express my awe and joy at your accomplishment.

Huzzah!

If there was any surface water, couldn't we dig down below the thing and create a pool of water under it? Then cover it up from the surface, so it like.. doesn't evaporate underground. >.>

But good work, Grim. :3

That's usually the first thing I do on a hot map, unless there's a handy water source nearby.

Yeah, but we didn't save our original water.

And throughout my year, the rains came, sure.  But it was so hot, even while raining, that the water never reached a flow level of 2, and kept evaporating/absorbing close to as fast as the water appeared.

So I'd really believed that there was no hope (short of the hacky 'turn off the weather while it's raining', which I didn't do cause... it seemed not to fit the rules).  And dwarves I -really- wanted to live during my turn died because they could not drink.

But if I'd known Grim's trick, they'd have lived....

Must examine save from Grimlocke's recent turn... must learn technique!

Hehe glad you like my wells, but its realy a very simple construction of a vertical pipe I dug into the ponds, with a stairway next to it. Felt kinda silly I didnt do it on my earlier turn, but its not like I realy ever cared much about the wounded dwarves beyond finding the cancel-spam mildly irritating.

@ Kamudo: thats pretty much what these wells do. Water that isnt sitting in one of the 'muddy pool' tiles, or that isnt 1/7 sitting on the floor, doesnt evaporate.

Oh wow, that's creative. Great work. :3

And I didn't do any water collecting in the first year, because it mostly evaporated before I could touch it. >.>

If it's not too late, I'd be much obliged if you'd sign me up.(Finally! I've been wanting so bad to say 'much obliged' all day! with only 8 minutes to spare too.)

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.

Sorry for going a bit quiet. I just haven't been able to play DF for a few days. Should start getting updates up today or tomorrow.

No worry, pies. :3 It's only been 5 days, and if you need an extension, that'll be all okay.

Diaries of a Dungeon Master, 3rd Granite

The Count told me today that the elves want us to stop chopping down trees, and this is our last chance. Haven't had much chance to say anything back to, them, but I've ordered some more trees cut down. Screw the Elves, Dwarven Industry halts for no hippy.

(I somehow lost the elf diplomat message screenshot. This makes me sad.)

I'm going to have to ask for an extension. I can't really do anything tonight or tomorrow, but Sunday should be fairly free.

Alright.

What's the current month/season you're in, if I may ask?

But yeah, I'll extend it anyways.

Jordrake Shouldn't mind, and I know I don't.

Not at all, as long as the extra time involves FIXING MY BIG 'D'.
But for serious, take all the time you need.
