Succession Game - LokuMidek (SpearBrain) - 40d
« on: March 18, 2010, 06:21:01 pm »

Hello all.
This is a 40d Sucession fort.

It's run my myself, and Imp. Our words are law.

I have mostly everything picked out, so If you like the map/starting Dwarves, then You're always welcome to Join!

Location:
It's a 9x9 map with Flux Stone, No Aquifer, It has an underground river, and a Magma Pipe, A Chasm, and 'Other Features'. All three Biomes in it are hot, and two of them are mountainous while the third to the north is Hilly land, where there is some trees.

The Bridge of Amusing (The Dwarves):
Two Miners
One FisherDwarf
One Engraver/Mason
One Woodcutter/Carpenter
One Grower/Herbalist/Brewer
One Appraiser/Organizer/Record Keeper
Two Cats
Two Dogs
Standard Embark Equipment

The Above Stats on the Dwarves are accurate. They're not Novice or anything.

The Rules:
No Mods.
No Helper Devices.
No other bad/exploitable devices.
Games will Run from Spring 1 to Spring 1. So as soon as you get a message saying Spring has arrived. Save it and give the file to the next player.
Your turn can take up to a week, if you don't finish in that time, the next person plays from the previous save.
It's advised to make periodic updates about your fort in a 'leaders journal' fashion. An End of the Year Report, describing the important events of the year is required.

The Players involved:
Kamudo - Year 201 -FINISHED-
Lucied - Year 202 -FINISHED-
Imp - Year 203 -FINISHED-
Darkrider2 - Year 204 -FINISHED-
Grimlocke - Year 205 -FINISHED-
Jordrake - Year 206 -FINISHED-
. . .
I'm unsure of all of the turns, Imp keeps track of them in posts, so look for the current turn order.

I'll most likely start the fort in the low lands with the trees away from the Chasm and near the Magma Pipe.

Uh.. Questions, comments and Join requests are welcome.

Imp, You're in.

Expedition Journal. Winter - 200

"Solon Abanzefon, you're to lead an expedition into the great unknown for Dishmab Dobar. May the Glory of the Mountain Home be with you."

Glory? Right, I'm a lowly Fisherman, assigned to lead six other people to a hellish area in goblin territory. Sounds Really fun. Anyways, the trek through the mountain has been peaceful so far. We've been following this long chasm all of the way over the mountain, and luckily have no been attacked. Despite being winter, it's really quite hot out. I hope this heat doesn't persist on the other side of the mountain, where our eventual departure is. If there's this much heat, I may not be able to catch many fish.. And I love my fish.

Early Spring - Granite 25 - 201

Building a settlement here has gone quite slow, mostly due to the fact that when spring arrived, we were only halfway down the mountain. The heat wave hasn't subsided, causing most of the grass to die off already, and the murky pools around here are starting to evaporate. I'm sitting here in the rocks writing this, while the miners start digging out the mountain side so we have shelter. I'm going to go about trying to fish out as much as I can before the water dries up, and I'll direct the Mason to get started on walls, and the Wood cutter to clear out some trees, so the Caravan can arrive in the Fall.

Expedition Journal - Hematite 18 - Early Summer.

All I can say, is wow. Is it hot out. At least inside the fort, things are cooler, but we haven't much to do in there, aside from work. I've instructed the mason to build walls to help secure our fort. I had a minor arguement with the Trader as to why we needed to keep the name as SpearBrain. I know it's unattractive, but come on.

I made friends with the wood cutter, who promised me that once the bedrooms were dug out, I could have one of the first beds. He's not a bad guy, and doesn't care that I, a woman, is leader. Since the murky pools have long dried up, I think I might take up a bit of brewing. I know the drinks might turn out crappy, but hey, at least it will help the planter, who is busy planting crops.

Expedition Journal - Limestone 16 - Early Autumn.

I can't believe we've spent 6 months here already. Summer was unbearably hot, but thankfully, we got the rooms done inside the mountainside. They're not much, but it's pretty cool in there. I've decided to have a meeting area built, and a small tunnel constructed to be later used for the magma area. I'm just a fisherdwarf, so I don't know how to deal with magma.

Rather than building with style or anything, I've been building mainly out of necessity. I've also had our kittens, horse and muskoxen slaughtered for food, since we were running dangerously low. Besides I've heard stories about hordes of cats destroying fortresses... The Caravan should arrive soon, and I'll try to get the Trader to Haggle us some food and booze.

Expedition Journal - Granite 1 - Early Spring

Woah, a whole year has passed since we first arrived here in LokuMidek. I can say it's starting to look like a nice little fortress now, though a lot of work is needed. I'm going to hand off the leadership position to someone else for a while. It's a lot of work, telling people what to do and have them yell at me. I'll just throw this journal in the hallway, and whoever picks it up can be leader. Sounds good to me.

I traded a lot of stone crafts to the Mountainhome, in exchange for food and drink, and I requested that they bring more next year. There were seven migrants, who refuse to listen to me, and mill around in the statue garden.

For the next leader, please note that I've been mainly focusing on stone crafts, to trade, and farming and such. I'm not good when it comes to any sort of metal working, so I largely left that industry alone. There's not a lot to note.

So, I'm gonna kick back, relax, and let someone else do the leading for a while.

-Tosses the journal out of the bedroom-

Please note I renamed the Fisherdwarf Solon Kamudo Abanzefon. If you wanna continue doing a narrative style, you can claim any one of the 13 remaining dwarves, and write things from their perspective. If not, then whatever. Lucied gets the game next, for a year. I'll upload the save somewhere and post it.

The save can be gotten above. It needs to be unzipped, as it is a RAR file, and placed in the saved games folder. You should save it as Lokumidek2 for the next person, and well continue numbering them and such.
