I think I've seen this a few times in older versions too.

Come to think of it, I used something similar to escape from hell in the museum game; the holes in the bottoms of the goblin pits. A few extended straight into hell. Had to use the dfhack liquids commands to create a route out through them. Has that hamlet youre in been conquered by goblins in the past?

No, it is a major human town and has the law-giver. No other evidence of goblin architecture such as goblin towers. Looking at how the sinkhole just cuts through a road at ground level, it seems like it is not a deliberately build structure as it does not follow how buildings are usually integrated in the town design.

It looks like the road might have tried to connect with the bridge ahead and just bugged out?

Can confirm it's happened in pre-steam fortress mode

Looking at the final days of elves and goblins in Adelaathira...

Strange to think it'll be a human only world soon. I wonder if anything will be left to really enjoy for the humans though?

and if the survivors will simply continue the civilizations of the other races and continue the wars anyway?

Also looking at my peaceful world on steam version. We've built a paradise that has passed many many years as the world ages and goblins led by demons purge one human civ after the next.
I'm thinking of going adventurer to bind the demons, lead them back to the fort, and put them to work. Let humans have an equal footing to the goblins and see what happens and put those clowns to work doing something useful

ok so for that to work you need to strip the master title off the demon as leadership roles will compel the person to go back to the seat of power on retire.
I had a better chance at moving demons into player forts by not the bind route and just talking them into doing the task... and befriending them.

Started a new adventurer in the new version, a Chosen One. After a surprisingly time of trying to find first the temple and then any priest (my computer is not built to handle human capitals), I made my way out in the wilderness to retrieve primordial cloudstuff. Sadly, the mysterious lair it was located in had been located poorly—the chamber with the cloudstuff was clearly visible through silver bars, with a cultist and some modded beasts represented by the debug critter, but the lever to open said bars was nowhere to be found...
Maybe this is a story about early release bugginess, maybe a story of player inattentiveness. Maybe a lever was there in plain sight, or the bars were to be opened by some other means. Who knows.

Same thing just happened to me at one of the sites I went to. Although, you can just jump through bars in adv mode, so its not the worst.

(Or use DFhack to teleport)

Still not exactly ideal though.

This is a known issue with the dungeon generation, sometimes vertical bars will generate with no way to open them. The issue is present in vaults as well, though it has become more evident now, as the new sites are much more accessible. You can jump through the vertical bars to get past, so it's not really an obstacle anyways.

Me and my companion decided to sleep for a bit before tackling a Forest Titan.

I woke up to an Alligator trying to eat me.  My spine was snapped, it's biting down on my head.

You have been struck down.

Adventure Mode is BACK!
