Come to think of it, I used something similar to escape from hell in the museum game; the holes in the bottoms of the goblin pits. A few extended straight into hell. Had to use the dfhack liquids commands to create a route out through them. Has that hamlet youre in been conquered by goblins in the past?

No, it is a major human town and has the law-giver. No other evidence of goblin architecture such as goblin towers. Looking at how the sinkhole just cuts through a road at ground level, it look like it is not a deliberately build structue, it does not follow how buildings are usually integrated in the town design.

It looks like the road might have tried to connect with the bridge ahead and just bugged out?
