best way to learn modded interactions so far is to kick over statues and piss off gods. you don't even need reading skill to gain stuff from that and it's random for every statue you topple.
if the interaction doesn't have any restrictions like not being a vampire or werebeast or cursed you can fill up on powers easily.

But I want interactions to not just be easily accessed by the player, but also to easily spread and become common. Though I assume when Toady adds his own idea of a magic system, modders will have more options for this, I do have a few ideas...

1. I've seen treants listed as the source of powers one time I tested more magic secrets, via overlapping spheres. This means raw creatures can be used as a controlled way to introduce secrets into the world. It might be possible to make "living" gods via making them exist with spheres but not have any tokens needed for spawning. I need to test whether mythical, DOES_NOT_EXIST creatures with spheres can give out

2. It also might be possible to add syndromes developed by those exposed to magic that have a chance of enabling CDI syndromes, as a way to make magic spread by observation. I need to see if this would work in

3. And finally, there's the dumb way of making mages a caste in a species. I'd need to devise other ways to maybe make their starting spells rather basic, and allow additional ways to gain more spells.

...clearly this means you should get her to wear only a giant cave spider silk thong. :V
Yup, things definitely just went all Slaanesh here. :o Could use some of that good time to ease my sorrows along with some pot if it was legal as I've been in constant tension for days now trying to do relaxing methods and failing every damn time.
Heh. That's the plan.

So Biretha always attacks any goblin who comes within view. Every goblin in range is flooding into the dark castle. The castle is now full of corpses. I gave Biretha an iron pick, which I will replace, but it's good enough for now. I'm trying to herd Biretha out of the door, mostly by killing goblins in the opposite direction from where I want her to go, so she'll kill the ones on the other side. Strangely she's not using her flame breath.

Biretha's pick has 72 kills on it. My axe was clean when I came in. Now it has over four hundred kills.

Thank Rithol that's over.

Just watch, a lasher will likely get lucky and brain her.

There are only two real ways of making secrets that spread in worldgen.

One, make a relatively common predator with a specialattack_interaction that transmits the syndrome.  Anyone who is wounded by one in battle will get the syndrome.

Two, make a secret that includes the ability to raise the dead.  If they cannot raise the dead, they will not build towers and it is unlikely that they will take on an apprentice.  You can turn the undead into more appropriate minions by transforming them when they are animated; for example pyromancers can summon fire men and cryomancers can summon ice men.

You can make interactions that spread the secret, but these will not be traced in worldgen.

1. We're out of the dark fortress now
2. She's an enormous demon with enormous demon clothes and an enormous demon skull
3. She's a legendary dodger
4. Blunt weapons have been nerfed and I should know, I use one

Now we're gonna fight a hydra!

Had a save corruption during the update to 43.03, so regenned a new 550 large world.

Made new peasant Imush Dirtclods with the same high recuperation/disease, above average strength/toughness set-up. I don't know any other way to replicate the idea of hardy dwarven constitution. Not optimal, but has the right RP feel as likely mentioned in some other post.

One skill in the last few runs that I've been setting to novice during character creation has been climber. Climber is tedious to train from dabbling upwards and it's part of the long game perspective to be able to melee inorganic web titans using Uzu Bash's multiple z-lvl approach. Novice climber drastically increases your ability to catch on to something during your leaps. In this case from column to column 2-3 z-lvls up from ground level. Speed though, will still be under .200.

When fielding hunters, the narrative preference has been for sword or more often, spear, but mechanically neither of those two weapon types can reliably one/two/three shot an inorganic webber due to weight, contact area and penetration depth, so novice axe once again. For reference, an iron two-handed sword, which has the highest contact area (100k) with an 8k penetration depth, only weighs 7r. The iron great axe has a 60k contact area with an 8k penetration depth at 10r in weight. The iron battle axe has a 40k contact area with an 6k penetration depth at 6r in weigh. Does the 3-4r difference in weight really matter? Perhaps not as much as I think when swinging at superior strength with base legendary axe skill. Still I have had a few characters with copper great axes cleave through inorganic quadrupeds. This run Imush started with a copper battle axe weighing 7r which he exchanged for an iron great axe in the fortress market. Iron and steel battle axes are both 6r I believe. If Imush had started with steel, I'd feel obligated to keep it due to material. Two runs ago, Ud Claspedgrips used the steel battle axe against two inorganic webbers, at 2 swings apiece. So, well we'll go with weight has meaning since there's no steel.

As Imush is just starting off, he's wearing iron chain leggings, iron mail shirt, iron cap, gauntlets and low boots. More armor pieces worn increases possible armor skill gain and the attendant attribute gain. Will again go for the granular advancement to talented shield/armor/wrestling start up build via slow travel cavern crawl. Later perhaps Imush will abandon all armor once at legendary shield and a similar level dodge.

The great shame about losing the old world was that world had several caves situated along the mountain chain. Easy access to cavern level 3. Mostly for the wood, but in more than one instance close to ruined mountain halls. It's a shot in the dark looking for FBs that haven't settled. I wonder if any of you guys has had success ferreting out non-settled FBs on cavern level 3 using this method?

Hmm. That's the thing, knowledge can now be copied and spread via being written down. That means that towers are no longer NEEDED. Thing is I don't know how readily they spread.

It's sort of a shot in the dark. If a mage writes down a secret at a library, other scholars reading books there will read the secret in worldgen, causing an explosion of mages. But first you need the secret to get written down.

That seems acceptable, yeah. So long as it is capable of spreading now via that method.

Fuuuuuuck!!!!! >_< https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSrNDZ75eos

*copious amounts of swearing*

No, no, no.. no.. no.... just. no. That'll mean starting a third world without my cheating utilities, go through all of that reaction-craft-creating-skill-level-uping, re-do what my ischroboar has already done. *more head desk bangs*

*an hour later*

Ya, know. I do miss playing as a female ischrotaur but today I'm planning to try relaxation methods in RL not deal with more shit making me even more dense and bitter. Good grief, FML.

EDIT: Alright the game updated and so far my save is fine so I poured all of the frustrations/hate/rage/discomfort on some bandits where I brutally slaughtered them all while forcing their leader to watch their deaths with the leader/warlord in pain from lost limbs and broken areas in the body, she bled to death after I removed last of her legs.
BLOOD FOR MYSELF!! SKULLS FOR MY SKULL THRONE!! MAIM!! KILL!! BURN!!

EDIT2: Bleh, don't mind me. Need to restart anyhow sometime.

cursed myself so hard that I got about 3 pages of modded abilities.
so far was fun to piss off gods til you are an abomination of nature that can reanimate and zap folks 4 different ways.
sadly I couldn't Retire this could be end boss so I can fight it in another adventurer.

probably a good mod idea of no restriction god cursing.

We killed two hydras. Biretha kept them distracted with her fire while I lopped off heads.

We visited the vault of the other lizard demon, but it was impassable a little way in. I could have gone further with DFhack, but oh well. Biretha got a twisting metal shield and I got a bulky pale fabric cape. My @ is white now.

Then we went to go find another vault, this one in the mountains, inaccessible. Biretha and I had to search manually. I took the opportunity to train sneak and crutch walking, but it was still awful. Luckily we only had to go over about a quarter of the area before we found the place.

The lesser angels are feathered humanoid panthers, the greater angels are lignite humanoids. They're both pushovers. They aren't even weapon masters.

The archangel, however, is a different story. It's called a Crystal Beast but that's a lie because it's a giant iron tarantula. Good thing I have pale metal weapons!

Invaded a goblin dark fortress. Not their capitol, as far as I can tell. Killed everyone in the fortress structure and the prisons below. No prisoners. No demon. The prisons didn't give me access to everything under there. I can tell with my vampire sight there are other warm bodies down there, but I can't reach them. I'll search the surrounding towers I guess. All goblinkind must die!

That Crystal Beast was no pushover. It broke Biretha's arm in two places and bit me in the kidney so hard I flew back into the wall. Eventually I killed it by cleaving its abdomen. Afterwards I got some more divine weapons and even a flickering cloth quiver, which I put all my weapons in. I now have the true name for a demon I will never bind. Biretha is the only girl for me!

Also, I think she's fire-trained. She never uses it inside unless we're at a lair or something.
