Hmm. So copying generic "write about site" books doesn't show up?

What do you need in order to write your autobiography? :V

Gotta find an autobiography first, usually they'll be "The True Something Soandso" or "On Your Own Journey" type titles.

Note also that you can read a manual which tells you how to write autobiographies or cultural histories or whatever.

find this news hillarious as this means there's a in depth Novel writer Simulator where you can go out in the woods make a log cabin and write a bunch of books that might infect folks with interactions you know.
so what's the limits on interaction infused books? you only write about the secrets you learn from other books?
is it possible to learn a demon name then write a book about it which grants the reader the name of the demon?
also how insanely modifiable is this I know toppling over statues can grant more interactions that are randomized each time and can stack.

I seem to be unable to retire my adventurer. I made a necromancing elephant man utilise an army of dead peoples and their bodyparts to build him a tower where a river diverges and you have the gap thingy over it. I can either save or give in to staration, and I have claimed the site.

don't know what to say outside of stick  all your zombies in the tower via a build command  and hope to find a new town that doesn't know you as a massive necromancer and retire there?

Imush Dirtclods needed to train swimming. Here's that moment where what is mechanically sound in terms of gameplay and what is narratively sound in terms on role play overlap. Novice swimmer generally needs to be trained to adequate swimmer to limit floundering/drowning in varying current or when falling 1 z-lvl into water.

Imush was lingering on the surface near his home fortress Craftsmassive so he's not had the chance. He fast traveled 5 world map tiles east and 2 north on the surface to the fortress Torchlash. While on his way down to the Torchlash warehouse to see if he could pick up an iron cap or helm, he stopped off in cavern level 1 to get that swimming in.

When it comes to training I prefer limiting the exercise as stat growth happens too quickly that way. Upon reach competent swimmer, endurance will advance from average to above average while under drowning status. Without drowning status, there is no change to endurance when competent swimmer is reached. As mentioned in a previous post, 1/5 of the way after competent swimmer, toughness will advance from above average to high while under drowning status. I don't want to say it's completely inorganic, but this can occur under more natural circumstances. If you kill enough critters, everything moves up. To me at least, it's about letting the game unfold and harvesting what's there as your character moves along.

Imush had sneak/ambusher on in cavern level 1 to make all those vision fields (cone, EXTRAVISION) visible. This way he keeps an eye out for giant cave spiders and is be able to locate critters he might not notice. Like pond grabbers whose blue p blends in completely with the blue 7 flow amounts in these underground waterways. Pond grabbers are harmless, but given dwarven tastes, good for meat, and good for advancing wrestling from dabbling to novice. It's also a natural way to briefly come in contact with that drowning status when passing by trees is unavoidable, as you often need to make your way to those pond grabbers or give chase. That's what's in season. Directly swimming under a bridge to reap the benefit of drowning is like flying in non-seasonal produce. Everyone's mileage varies on that of course.

I guess my having dorfs make towns means they make bigger libraries and I thus encounter them more often, so it didn't occur to me to point this out.

I usually go check through libraries and try to find a few interesting book types.

Writing manuals while having interactions which can be transmitted with writing will tend to spam them along with your various poetry/song/dance forms.

I seriously hope that's a thing in future versions, where you could have custom dance forms that cause syndromes. I.e a song that causes the ears of everyone (aside from the singer) who hears it to bleed. Or a dance that knocks everyone who completes (again, aside from the person initiating it) it unconscious (or just causes death - I want to kill people Moonwalker Genesis/Mega Drive style).

Syndromes from performances that aren't deadly, but are essentially other types of status effects, both buff and debuff, would be great to have. A bard who plays a tune or tells a story could make you Focused! or Distracted. There's a little of that now, but not really enough.

I know, I know. Armok is not pleased by these tepid ideas. Blood for the blood god.

I have ventured across the nearby hamlets to gather any books I could find, but no such luck. So then I went up to a dwarf fortress, found the nearest militiadwarf with steel gear, so I could trade away my bronze great axe and craft a steel one.

Yesss, precisely.

I always imagined that an adventurer spontaneously starting to dance in a tavern had the same sort of effect as in Moonwalker, where everyone around the person initiating the dance feels compelled to join, minus the "poofs into nothingness" part.

so basically what I do during the rising dawn with bogeymen as an arachnid adventurer with several points in dancing?
