Poor Shlufulujurbis, batted about like a cat toy.

Nah, IIRC I stabbed it into the upper body somewhere first with the the regular old bronze short sword and then it was just a an anger/mercy kill I guess by using one of my paws to kick/collapse its skull in. I guess Dexios doesn't like being ambushed in the dark and it brought out the worst of him, including a strange power of extravision later on after beheading the other two skulking kobolds under the main tower of the fort and dragging their bodies for all to see outside near the fort's gates after showing the horrible blood work to the Draenei Prophetess and the Dreanei leader (title escapes me right now) of the fort "hey, they could've killed you in your sleep!".

Yeah after I killed the first kobold that seemed like a perfect area where to initiate my reaction crafting sorcery to get the actual gear I needed and cover Dexio's man bits with a mastercraft rope reed loincloth (I doubt I'll ever find lion man sized pants anywhere legit anyway). And for my own sanity sake and getting away from reality I had to increase lion man lifespan over a thousand years. Anyhow current adventure depends on how well I'm able to cope with this playthrough as in I need to be in this Spartan RPG character to actually manage all of that DF mortality and it seems to be kinda working.

And once again I ended up telling of the beginning trivial stuff. Hopefully this time it'll work out better in the end, I still need to get a hearthperson task and recruit nearby bandits and form some sort of group of my own somewhere, that bandit camp seems like a nice place to convert as it's nearby to the Dexio's civ. Sucks I will not be able to use those kobold remains for food, so much food right there. The building I've had in my mind involves walls, doors, floors, stairs, hatches, roofs and fortifications. Means that I'll have to switch back to current evil Dhorna's adventure and test it out there with those bandits being my slaves, plus an Ischrotaur doesn't need sleep or eat and drink and etc so if the slaves die, they die, at least my lass will get the job done.

Nice. So gonna build a fort of your own now?

Still should tackle a vault so you can make a demon do the building for you.

So uh... might take another bugfix to make rescues work right again.

Right now you can go fight your way into the dark fortress, kick down doors and free prisoners, bring them out with you, and figure out where they live... but upon walking in and someone recognizing them they go no quarter for some reason and start getting shanked.

I don't watch GoT but it feels like something that would happen on there. "Mother, it's you, I finally escaped that horrible prison!" 'My son, my beautiful son... who is now screwing up the succession for my other child... give me a hug... aaaand let me just slip this dagger into your ribs, shhh, shhh, it'll be over soon.'

Two days ago I genned a 1050 year large-size world with 43.02.

Began a hammerdwarf: Bim Fieldapple the Bread of Ales. I went with a full name before the RNG could inflict some sort monstrosity.

Again, I went with the RPish above avg STR/avg AGIL/above avg TOU/avg END/high RECUP/high DIS RES, etc, etc.
- Overall dwarven agility is comparatively so low, any attempt at initial improvement provides diminishing returns on a peasant.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Average dwarven endurance is the same as average human endurance. Also not worth improving. Easy enough to manage as is. Or to train.
- Mechanically, it's better to go with the STR/Toughness synergy.
- Temporary lung issues due to drinking occurred once last run on the Ud character due to the high disease resistance. On a character with above average disease resistance, the lung issues were much more frequent. Not a relevant issue mechanically, but I like the idea of a resilient, hardy adventurer, so high RECUP/high DIS RES fits in nicely. Sometimes role play trumps all else.

Bim started off as a peasant in a fortress. He went to the warehouse to swap out the bronze war hammer for silver, picked up iron chain leggings, a copper mail shirt, and a copper cap. For some reason he was also able to pick up an iron great axe. These were all of standard quality. The 1050 year history did increase the number of clothing masterworks. Bim elected to not load up on those. There was a masterwork suit of gorlak leather armor, but Bim couldn't bring himself to wear  the skin of a sentient.

Bim stepped out of the ramp spiral in cavern level 1 and decided to work a very normal old school opening. Found a static 7 flow area to move swimming from novice to adequate under the safest conditions away from any trees or beneath the block highway to avoid the drowning status effect.

When I first began running cavern crawling dwarves, I had forgotten how the drowning mechanic worked, as the Mafol character from late March/early April needed to enter a vast water network dotted with trees. It sounds counterintuitive to adventuring, because adventure is about risk, but rogue run worlds prohibit savescumming and thus when no educated guess will suffice and there's no previous forum info, the cautious route is used. So I set up a brief test world. Drowning status functions differently depending on whether you're passing 10 ticks with the period button or are engaged in directional movement. I vaguely recall it's around 400-500 ticks if you're just waiting, but only 13 directional movements with an adequate swimmer skill and toughness at above average and endurance at average.

Both the Mafol and Ud characters went with a more organic attribute method as they simply chose to dedicate hunting time to pond grabbers and other watery denizens, often near trees, thus coming under the drowning status effect. This run however, I had Bim train more directly by swimming with the drowning status effect under the dwarven underground highway:
- Upon reach competent swimmer, endurance advanced from avg to ABV avg.
- 1/5 way after competent swimmer, toughness advanced from ABV avg to high.
- 1/5 way after skilled swimmer, endurance advances from ABV avg to high.
- No visible change at proficient swimmer while using drowning status effect.

Next up for Bim is some cavern level 1 slow travel, with sneak mode on so as to see the GCS before it sees him, first to level and also to have a look around to decide where to build. Bim does want to head down to cavern level 2 as there's different wood available there. Wouldn't want the bowyer's shop restricted to fungiwood and tower-cap bows.

Well, I'm going to just trust that these guys will stay at my little camp and not insurrectinate me while I'm away trying to recruit hearthpeople/laborers.

Also. "We See Busts," a form of dance my adventurer knows.

Oh god that would be fucking awesome.

Meanwhile I'm gonna see about recruiting an army of drunk dwarves as labor, and maybe turn them into hearthpeople. But I need to see if enough fame will make them say yes...

yeah
thing is all workers will poof to the surface,
but they still build stuff on the site.
also uhh the camp won't pop up underground though just on the surface.
you also might need to dig up tunnel floors to build stuff.
other than most the stuff I said it's neat up until you're stuck chopping down wood that basically drop 1 log.

Well, I'm going to just trust that these guys will stay at my little camp and not insurrectinate me while I'm away trying to recruit hearthpeople/laborers.

Also. "We See Busts," a form of dance my adventurer knows.

*senses his good/lust loving version of Dhorna the ischrotaur character eager to know that dance form* Seriously at this point Dhorna and her evil-ish incarnation have taken mind of their own in my mind like everything else in my mind. I guess that's what happens with writers of books and stories who create/think up something they grow to like/love it enough that it's like a whole another entity in their mind.

In all seriousness, character such as Dhorna isn't concerned about wearing armor or any clothing for that matter as she is completely shameless and bold and fearless and with great skill and abilities I've found out that even mortal demigod warrioresses can manage with just a weapon and a shield while completely nude but for my own 100% convenience I prefer playing as an Ischrotaur since their bodies are unbreakable and unbendable as demons/giants can grab and just endlessly try to bend a bone or a ligament in vain (in my fantasy set-up ischrotaur bodies feel like the skin of an elf and muscles and everything else feel mortal too, the original idea was to make them regenerate like the Wolverine but since I can't do that: I can make them initiate a different kind of mutation: invincibility) plus since they lack fat there's more room for the relsize headache to make room for thick bones, cartilage and muscles and it enables me to make melee attacks that can make human sized creatures be propelled away by powerful blows and also make jumps off of great heights to instantly get down. A boring playstyle for everyone else but an awesome one for myself that allows me to experience something that has a positive and the least stressful effect on me.

Also since most of my DF play time has been invested in the chaotic good Dhorna character who's in nude pretty much all the time it makes stating the +++ martial prowess value of her to other npcs rather amusing: Dhorna: "A skilled warrior is a beautiful sight to behold!" Usual random NPC: *is probably drooling or otherwise baffled* ... "Uhh.. *gulp* (usually it's some form of "I agree")".

Anyhow, I've yet to continue with playing DF as today I was bogged down with other issues plus I ended up thinking and planning about a reaction cheat and a special type of wood that doesn't rot (doubt I need that if I can just spam spawn new logs). Plus the news about not being able to rest in the mountains made me second thought about playing as Dexios (I would need to cross the mountains to recruit dwarven drunks).

To stay on topic: Looks like the world I genned and the place I am at I only need to travel a few squares of travel map towards south-south-west as that's where a vault should be and I really do hope that the vault in question has the name of a demon who's dark fortress is nearby somewhere/not too far away.. feel more like building instead but it'd be useless without having a good number of bodycount for intimidation factor (and avoid silly warnings about bogeymen) and have some slaves companions some who will probably keep spitting on me and missing. Enough talk, time for action!

so uhh ended up getting loads of demons visiting my camp. had to build a super bunker with a roof once I ended up getting a flying demon

then I had to leave because I woke up with a demon in my bed and ended up with my nose and leg mauled to bits.
so my reanimator wander back into a gnoll town in a fit of depression knowing demons stole his home topple over 2 statues and ended up getting cursed 2 new spell classes.
really hate how I cant retire this character.
so uhh dark ages where Demons sleep in your bed
and you could play the Church Curse lottery.

I'm sure a crazy human bard with an army of dwarven drunks would make one fine redition of it if there were non-hostile minitaurdemons to do so. o3o

Meanwhile, I cleared a lair of three night trolls. Well, I got credit for two of them. Despite two of three of my 12 dwarven allies getting injured and KOed, no one died.

And now I have the fame to make them join me as hearthpeople, not just fellow bards.

Ohgod. I better not have demons visiting my camp. Okay maybe naked minotaur demon chicks, but not the kind that tend to bring hordes of goblins with them. Goblins make terrible tavern visitors, because have you ever seen an obligate carnivore drink booze?

this is kinda normal for me, since last time I remember a demon pop up during my fortresss guard playthrough and I had to recruit 23 archers out of 30 companions to bring one demon down.
ended up being a sport of killing demons, though I guess these demons are popping up due to fighting darkage's modded demons and ascending as they seem to  be missing limbs or pretty scarred up.
that said OH BOY unlocked the Transform into a dragon interaction from toppling enough statues in a church now to fully heal this bad leg and nose wound.

edit: okay so the transform into a dragon interaction seems to allow you to turn anyone into a weredragon so this meant I can turn my entire zombie army into weredragons and heal all their wounds.
