After reclaiming a world-gen fort where I eventually made some adamantine gear, I decided to explore it as an adventurer and claim the weapons for myself, then maybe sell off the ones I couldn't use anyway.

First time around I made a swordsman and recruited 2 drunks. Things uhh, didn't go exactly as planned.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I died shortly afterwards - the ghost actually bisected me.

Second time was a spearman - recruited 2 drunks yet again. I died again, this time because my companions were...somewhere else, dunno where, and I got lashed in the head by a faceless one (they were the civ I reclaimed the fort with).

Third time was the charm, though - once again, spearman+2 drunks. I encountered the 2 surviving drunks from last time and recruited them.
Ultimately, though the first 2 ended up dying in combat - both got stabbed through the head by a faceless one, the other 2 got killed by the same spooky gremlin.

Eventually I found the adamantine weapons

There was also an adamantine glaive I took and which I left on the adventurer - bought some other, more usable gear with it.

NOOOOOOOO MY MARTIAL PIERCINGS

A lot of my time has been spent finding and killing these night monsters. They're everywhere, and they're still challenging. I'm training my axe with a jagged pale metal battle axe I got at the vault. Since the goddess who made it was basically Khornette, I say it's a chain axe. It fucks shit up.

Cerol is my companion. She started as an ordinary hammerdwarf, but with my help, she became a full hammerlord. I gave her an exceptional silver war hammer and an endless supply of broken-necked targets to train with, and now she's unstoppable. Here she is fighting against the patriarchy.

She can kill pretty much anything that feels pain in two hammerstrikes, but she doesn't fare well against night monsters and other things that don't feel pain. I've lost count of the number of times I've saved her from having her face ripped off by night monsters.

My plan from here is to destroy a few more bandit camps, but this time collect the money and valuables in a backpack. Then I'll give the pack to Cerol and drop her off at a dwarven site. I know I don't have to do the whole backpack thing, but I feel like it's the least I could do.

After that I'm going to conquer another vault, and hopefully this one will have a slab. Then I'm going to enslave a demon master and I don't know what I'll do from then. Maybe I'll go kill the night monster that killed Cerol's husband.

I remember you could first train your companion as a grappler, then hand them a weapon and improve them from there. While your companion won't be able to outgrapple a pure night troll, he/she could in theory outgrapple a converted spouse. That varies if the spouse is human due to size magnification, but all former dwarves/elves can be ragdolled.

Hmmmm, if you kept Cerol on, I'd trade her her hammer for some type of body armor, also the shield for bodyarmor to get her freehanded. Then you could retrain her into an elite wrestler, I believe.

But yeah, those piercings are always good handholds.

Flame gave Cerol a bag of various articles of clothing, gems, coins, and most importantly, books he had collected during his travels. The bag must have been worth thousands, as some of those books were bound in gems. Then he said goodbye. I actually felt a bit sad. Killing bandits and night monsters wasn't as much fun without her. Anyway, I found the vault, then saved outside it. The game crashed while saving. The save is now corrupt.

I really wish I had a screenshot of all my scars, which I am very proud of. I must have had dozens, and 3/4 of my body was scarred. I ended up with four martial piercings, out of six max. You saw the night monster rip the scimitar out of my arm, and the jagged axe probably shared the same fate when I wasn't looking.

Flame Candleroared the Tornado of Sharks stands outside the vault. In his right hand he holds a terrifying axe, dripping with the blood of bandits that had dared attack him. On his face is an expression of determination. And there he will stand, for all time.

Your save won't load at all? That's no good. I've had a few mid-save crashes, but they still loaded properly.

EDIT: After finding a masterwork bronze war hammer, Ud took the trip east into a good region. He headed to a shrine called The Rainy Cave, home to Lasiv Autumndeserts the hill titan. Lasiv was a giant one eyed lizard. It had an enormous shell, a look of unbelievable peace, and an eye that glowed azure. Ud used Lasiv to work his hammer skill. It was what it was. Hammer advanced two levels to proficient.

One world map tile south of The Rainy Cave was the shrine of Leapedhides. It was something of a replay of the forgotten beast Damsto Nightpukes the Lust of Spiders, who was a towering blob composed of water with web ability. The difference here was The Weather of Fields (TWoF) the brush titan was an enormous lizard made of water, with web ability, and had wings, moving twice as fast as Damsto. Ud snuck into 23 tile range to reveal the EXYTRAVISION field, then moved into 20 tile range to trigger TWoF into being aggressive. TWoF was in flight 1 z-lvl up. Ud measured TWoF's speed, then began throwing. First pick thrown sheared off a watery limb. The next few picks, spears and knives all missed. Ud switched to throwing bronze arrows. The 4th arrow thrown brought TWoF down to the ground. It was close enough to shoot web and it shot. 30 tick interval starts. Ud threw a 5th arrow which sheared off another watery limb letting TWoF move closer, still under within the 30 tick web interval. Now adjacent, Ud landed a normal axe swing to the head to finish.

Ud then collected (as per Rumrusher's idea) all the webs shot by TWoF. Not sure when Ud'll use them. Perhaps for the deadly dust FB coming up.

But yeah, those piercings are always good handholds.

Especially when the tool used is this:

That is my recolored mock-up v2 version from the default heliotrope color because that's the Drolth-sword I threw at the dwarf and it severed his/her entire left leg from thigh area with first throw. Strange thing though is that I couldn't find the dwarf's leg afterward.

I've made a new adventurer in a new world - Thomo Demonlord the Prophecy of Daggers. My goal is to enslave both living demons and make them my concubines, as they're both females. :P

I was lucky enough to find a full suit of iron armor, plus an exceptional iron short sword. My helmet is decorated with cow horns and has an image of a whip vine on it. That is my new personal symbol. Open-legends says it's called the Veil of Skirts, which is lame but whatever.

EDIT: Actually, it's kind of fitting considering I want to make some demons into concubines.

My boy Joddo doesn't leave anything to chance. After that was taken the two of us reduced that hammerlord to mincemeat. I would have taken the maul if I wasn't already overloaded and if mauls didn't suck.

Ud traveled (12 world map tiles east/1 south) to the shrine Deerseals the Windy Twigs. Approaching from the south with sneak mode on, Ud moved into 23-25 tile range and revealed the red bloom of EXTRAVISION.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Uzor Viperbudded the Chants of Morning the forest titan was a web-spraying sauropod of made mud, with a square shell, and an austere look.

Because the forest titan lacked flight, Ud used Uzu Bash's column climbing method versus this webber. Because it could not climb, Ud skipped softening it up with ranged attacks.

Ud noted the forest titan's position and then swept west, always maintaining 23-25 tile distance, to make an eastward approach hidden by trees until he could get close enough to the shrine to move from column to column, 1 z-lvl above ground to avoid the web stream.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ud leapt to the column the titan stood adjacent to, and rotated to the other side.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Hanging 1 z-lvl above, Ud cycled through the attack menu by passing once tick at a time until he was given a normal strike, very square.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That steel axe swing fractured the head. He then repeated that process once more and Uzor Viperbudded the Chants of Morning was struck down.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ud will continue east to the shrine Hillswamp, home to Dipane Creatureberry the hill titan webber, a scaly antelope in human form who moves deliberately, with aqua scales jagged and set far apart. There he'll repeat the process, but with the change of adding in ranged attack to kill Dipane Creatureberry's climbing ability.

The groundwork is in place for Eaglechunks.

So I left to go finish my powerup quest, gain some more fame, and then recruit a bunch of slave laborers loyal followers to help me build Eaglechunks!

first adventurer was a spiderperson under the hunch that building probably going to keep going into night and didn't want to have a bogeyman Punch the living shit out of my adventurer.
sadly I built a site near a goblin camp and slowly getting gobbos popping up at my doorstep.
which is highly possible since even with companions you still could end up caught alone by bogeymen. so lesson in all this is to build  a quick easy roof over a ledge.
shame the game doesn't allow you to dig in vanilla.

I really love how geists keep popping up near my compound - I can actually recruit them by just dancing and then put them to work in my camp.

Didn't checked if there was any kind of instructions on how to build, so i tested around the new building functionality and found it rather painful due to some non obvious and unintuitive stuff.

Especially when DF does not care that you have an axe or if your character was intelligent enough to switch automatically to the axe when felling tree, no,no no ! you MUST have the axe in hand, so you need to drop either shield or sword you had so you can have that damned axe in hand so DF could allow you to fell a tree, that required some map off/on loading apparently .

Anyways, once that worked and after felling 3 trees to have truckload enough of logs, i picked them all one by one (i hope Toady will allow multi-pick stuff or stacking in the future), and slowly walked to the location i wanted to build and after using the b(uilding) new function to make my plans, the game then considered i had no log... despite they were all in my backpack .

I dropped everything and then the game considered then i had those logs, so they must be on ground to be used...
Anyways, after several long (lots of boring map offloading - loading ) steps, finally managed to build the thing.

Then made my workshop from remaining logs, took a couple of them and went to x -> carpentry and make my wooden door ... until game tells me ... no log , despite i had 2 of them in backpack.
Remembering the stuff with the wooden cabin, i dropped them both, and ... the door could then be built.

Went back with my door in hand to b(uild) it on my cabin, and ... no door... Not again that ! i then dropped the door on the ground, and voila, i could build my door on the cabin.

The whole thing could sure use some usability improvement, but at least it works and hopefully we'll get more things to do in future updates (digging).

Proud of this small forest cabin that my 2 party members helped to make , with all the map off/onloading during the process it must be even more painful to make one alone.
Probably going to make myself the new lord of the forest cabin , probably going to impress the ladies in the nearby hamlet :D

so far adv constructions are labeled in the Key markings and help guide Though it's basically every where.
chopping trees needs a Grab prompt, Building is a separate task, and if you want to build a door you need a carpentry workshop to unlock Carpentry reactions with(I'm sensing this going to be used alot in mods)
all your complaints seems to follow what you had to do with ADVfort script so.
toady said you can retire on the site you built by making a main hall zone, then vocally claiming the site.
the whole dropping supplies stuff on the ground works anywhere and at best when you have worker companions means you can drop a supply load, plan out a large part of the advcamp then Walk off to do something else while the group finishes building.
oh and there's a slight HYPERTIME issue with camps robsoie where items rot away extremely fast while doing any on site working.
so any doors you build if their not made to stand the test of time they will poof the next visit or have 'xX  Xx'  around them.

I think that since it is a site people visit it so yes, pretty cool.
