So, I decided to generate a new world based off of the map of our Earth, and gotta say, it's fairly interesting so far.

I think whoever is this world's equivalent of the Soviets won the war, as America is a winter wonderland. All of the worlds oceans are evil, too - mainland bodies of water are fine, though.

Dwarves seem to be mostly confined to the southern and middle parts of Africa. Goblins are in Russia and most of Africa, Orcs seem to be mostly confined to South America, several other races are spread out across the various continents.

Made a draconian adventurer, starting in America, killed 2 griffins and a cave brute so far on request from my scalebane. Unfortunately the first griffin bit off one of my legs, but eh, I have 3 more. We'll see how it goes later, hopefully there'll be some more interesting stuff I find out.

What about Austrailia? o3o

Ud journeyed north to the shrine Grovewaves, home of the plains titan Lulo Drumorange the Soaked Flax, de facto ruler of The Field of Dells. Ud's main goal was to advance novice miner to adequate miner, and accomplished axe to great axe versus this fast and gigantic insect build.

He decided to sleep at the shrine, but was awoken an hour before dawn by bogeymen. Unfortunately, after dispatching them, Ud neglected to pick up the 185 titan meat he had dropped before engaging. When he awoke at dawn, the site had reloaded without the titan meat. Giant land lobster flesh, you will be missed.

Nearby was the lair of Blossomedpelt the Waste of Jewels, the hydra. This took Ud's strength from high to superior, while agility has been at superdwarven since the werebeast combat (from last post). The whole 1:2 balance of strength:agility isn't as relevant with a dwarf because the dwarven racial average is so low and your dwarf's action/attack will come in second during opponent 4 tick attacks, unless the initial stat layout was somewhat extreme. If you're playing a pure disruptor's game then speed will matter much more to you. I have my character play around it and it's never been an issue. The strength/toughness synergy is suboptimal in general but seems less so with a dwarf.

There was no other significant stat gain from the Blossomedpelt encounter. Fighter advanced from Legendary + something to the next level which was meaningless. Ud does have a gulf between his shield (base legendary) and his dodge (adept). A stat difference isn't all that important, so long as the weaker stat is still higher than the opponent's attack stat, otherwise the attack will pass through the defensive option and then hit armor if strike, or secure a grab if grab.

Ud spent the night at the fortress Earthenmoments. The game crashed three times during the saving world cycle in this fortress. All 3 were all some sort of partial save as Ud was able to pick up where he left off. Once Ud fast traveled to the underground road, I saved again, this time completely. One wonders when this save will be corrupted beyond use.

Seems to mostly be populated by jungle trolls, from what I recall - gonna check later after I conclude this adventure.

Thanks!

So I modded in a race called the "High ELves" they do not have the at peace with wildlife tag/they have access to all materials, and have high lords which act like lords, and a ranger captain for each site which has a squad (so in adventure mode you can start as a ranger or one of the high lords guards or become one while playing)  they still have tree cities but they have access to all materials and like cities, so they take them over in world gen. They also create tombs for their emperors (the leader) and all inheritance is by heir , they also still have druids, and they entomb them aswell, they also entomb princes.

They also build roads and dont settle in forests usually. (which makes their sites much more interesting imo)

They also have the ability to transform into a random large animal for about 6 hours once per day.

It is really fun to play as one.

Ud left Earthenmoments, traveling northeast towards a long mountain range that began at Dreamgulf and snaked upward into the tundra that capped the top of the world. Along the way he passed four shrines: Rawnesssinks ,Whiskeredfuchsia, Glacialteal the Grove of Drums, and Packedsack the Sun of Stone.

Rawnesssinks was the home to Iyathi Flowerfords the Lavender Tulip the forest titan, a feathered buffalo, with a regal bearing and a poisonous bite. Ud hacked Iyathi into 2 pieces, and then wove 2 forgotten beast padded jacks from the skins.

Whiskeredfuchsia is the home to Zusmob Autumnstreams the forest titan, a four-legged martin with a shell and colored feathers. It moves carelessly and could shoot webs at 30 tick intervals. Since it has flight, it can operate on various z-levels and was spotted hanging from the branches of a tree 1 z-lvl up from the ground. Ud did not pick up any bolts/arrows in prep for this, so he passed on Zusmob for now. If he were to melee Zusmob, he'd still need to advance his axe skill 3 levels to legendary, as it's much preferred to get the true shots in before the interval elapses. Whiskeredfuchsia was followed by a midnight treehouse intermission where Ud was waylaid by a group of bear people 5 z-lvls up. While holding the 305 feathered buffalo forest titan meat at a speed of .099, Ud ran several exchanges with them until he became tired and had to drop weight to get up to .833 speed to finish the group. Mobs are great at the beginning of a run, but a nuisance after.

Glacialteal the Grove of Drums is the home to Ditari Sunkenpearls the Lavender Root the forest titan, a quadruped made of ice with a shell. It moves deliberately and could also shoot webs every 30 ticks. If only Ud had brought coins. Similar requirement as Zusmob, so another pass. After Glacialteal, was a stopover at the fortress Abbeypets to drop off the feathered buffalo forest titan meat and for a side trip to Sculptspurting, lair of the hydra Uxo Drumsearch the Controls of Breaching. Hydra meat just isn't like titan meat. Ud only took the heart, brains and kidneys before leaving for Packedsack the Sun of Stone.

Packedsack the Sun of Stone was the home to Talin Moistflower the Leopard of Skunks the forest titan, an eyeless theropod with regal bearing. Talin was a 30 tick fireball thrower. Ud had prepped for Talin by diving into a river to pre-wet all clothing, but neglected to take out the cloaks he was carrying. They stayed dry. Still, plenty of leeway with 8 cloaks. Ud, sprinting, avoided the first two fireballs as they closed distance. The third shot was blocked by shield, but the fourth set a pig tail cloak on fire just after Ud slapped a grab onto Talin's head and followed with a true axe swing to the foot. Talin opted to break the grip instead of hurling. Ud removed and dropped the cloak, then swung at Talin's neck twice. The first was a difficult shot, the next and last was normal, but square as the first. Talin, like Iyathi, left a skin which Ud promptly tanned for another jack.

The repetitive dullness continues...

Here's a cropping of the map Ud is on.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The town of Dreamgulf is the * in the extreme southwest corner. Ud has made his way up the mountain range and is in the area of that first significant bit of glacier if one visually moves along the range northward.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Outside the fortress Foldedfortress, Ud meets the baroness consort of Roadcudgel, Ilral Kibled. From her he gathers information about the surrounding area. As suspected, many of the abandoned hillocks have low end bandits occupying them. Ud's currently at a .239 walking speed, carrying all manner of victuals and libations. He'll drop these in the Foldedfortress tavern and get back up to a 3.333 sprint speed before having a look around, first for Cobim Diamondsizzled the Gilded Taxes the dragon, 1 world map tile east, then for the bandits in the hillocks to the northwest.

Ud was playing a fast travel, connect the dots mode of play when walking the border of the mountain range. It's a good method if you're mainly trying to go from A to B as opposed to being concerned with all that lies in-between. A line by line fast travel movement pattern to reveal the various lairs and whatnot is much better around civilization hubs. That was the way Ud was working around Dreamgulf in the Field of Dells before getting sidetracked with its ruler, the plains titan Lulo Drumorange the Soaked Flax. Ud'll try to get back to a more detailed approach in this region.

All the rivers are frozen, so before encountering Cobim Diamondsizzled the Gilded Taxes the dragon, Ud drops some water on the ground and rolls around in it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Water ends up covering the outermost items he has. Hood, cloak, and mittens are all COVER, while high boots are OVER. If they were dry, the cloak would be first to catch fire, then either the next highest UBSTEP/LBSTEP body item, followed by perhaps one of the other outermost items covering a smaller area like the head, hand or foot. This is based on the idea that the shield has been in use blocking almost all fire and the surrounding environment is not given to wildfire. Entering the lair, Ud only equips his shield to get in some work for strikes, kicks, and misc weapon user.

The fight with Cobim is unremarkable. Dodge Preference and Charge Defense are kept at stand ground. Ud lets Cobim breathe about ten times after smashing his foot with the copper shield. Then Ud leaves Cobim to The Hand of Fate and combat is now just directional auto-attack. There are some kicks and punches, but towards the end it's braining by shield.

I finished off the rocs hydras bronze colossi. I killed a few giants and their similar kin.

One giant however decided to be a pain, I go to the cave it lives in and I don't see it, I descend into the cave I don't see it, I enter the cavern and I don't see it, is it in the lower cavern layers or something? Is it hiding? Stupid giant I came here to kill you not to play hide and seek! Anyway I eventually got bored and decided I didn't really care about killing off the semi-megabeasts anymore, at this point its just a pain to do so, their really isn't anything left to do in this world, I don't feel like getting rid of it just yet though, I dunno maybe I'll turn this adventure into a killing spree in which I do my best to decimate the goblins.

For the civilized, gainfully employed population, the problem with/benefit of the drifter or adventurer is (s)he is almost always someone seeking trouble. It's for the better or worse when the offered trade is steel and their preferred garment is mail. The outlook depends on whether you live in interesting times.

Trawling through the history of a fortress like Earthfortune (founded in 94) is the act of seeking needles in a haystack. Books upon books are authored and some are lost. Punctuating this catalogue of books are immigrants, profession changes and beast incursions.

37 years ago, the minotaur Ngasmuk Dentedzephyer the Dangerous Sling first appears in the timeline at 213. The yetis Wisho Allykeepers, Irsi Socketleaped, Otam Endedwarm, Iguk Agecrowds, and Egu Laboredhopeful, all livestock consumers, arrive with no reservations in the early spring of 145, hungry and eager for more. In the midspring of 130, the forgotten beast, Wothana Mangesweats begins eating livestock and harassing local dwarves with its noxious secretions. Before that, is the eventful year of 119, where the hydras Nocpur Glandbristled the Hideous Key, Rane Rightjewels the Bold Sport of Bravery, and Egul Strappingmold the Tribe of Renown, all go on livestock rampages. Lastly 97, the year cyclopses Ngusna Inkedpainted the Emerald of Influencing and Rab Dawnedink the Beige Oak (d.250) engage in what can only be considered minor roughhousing. Some dwarves were harmed, none killed.

Wothana Mangesweats, who claims the world as its home, roams the depths of the world in cavern level 3. There's no need to go down a rabbit hole looking for something that may or may not be there. Instead as planned, Ud travels to the abandon hillocks to rout various human bandits. In the hilllock Rackgrasps, he comes upon a lone dwarf, the baron of Rackgrasps, Doren Machineclinched. Doren was somehow affiliated with Tomus Amusedhoods, the leader of the hoods in Rackgrasps. The exchange of greetings with Doren includes "I have nothing for you." Hmmm. When Tomus is pummeled to death, Doren is not happy. This is odd considering the history.

In 101, Doren was born in Lizardkeys. He became a 12 year old farmer in 113. One hundred years later, he became the baron of The Sabre of Taming and settled in Rackgrasps. In 233 he became obsessed with his own mortality and one year later began worshipping The Grave of Bone. Tomus was born in 228. He settled in Rackgrasps, became the master of The Gloved Uncles, and met his death—all in 250. Apparently Doren and Tomus became fast friends. That or Doren was in the thrall of Tomus. Likely, Tomus had a personal magnetism that was lost on Ud.

Ud leaves Doren to his own devices. The heart wants what it wants. In this case, the secrets of life and death. On his way to the ruined fortress of Rarediamond, Ud punches the cyclops Rab Dawnedink to death. The gain here is toughness advances from superior to superdwarven. On this peasant build average agility reached superdwarven first, followed by average spatial sense, then by above average toughness. All because of the wrestling, the shielding, and the dodging—with the focus in an old timey stand ground/stand ground game.

It was unknown what lurked in Rarediamond, or it was forgotten, so Legends was consulted. Rarediamonds was destroyed by Ammesh Heroiclegends The Eagle of Mines, a forgotten beast. Ammesh was a feathered scorpion, with a poisonous sting, undulating rhythmatically. Ammesh was found in a 2 by 2 tile room on the warehouse level. Ud removed the two stingers Ammesh wielded and was in the process of removing its pincers when it bled to death.

Yeah, it's something you can download then generate with advanced worldgen.

I posted the link to the one I used here:

Got it from this pastebin.

EDIT:Well, I learned not to explore caves ever again.

Basically things were going fairly smooth until I came across a group of plaguebearers who sprayed me and my 2 companions with ichor and blighted gas, which unfortunately caused long-term nausea. I killed them easily enough, but later on my maceman companion suffocated from bruised lungs.

I died when I encountered a group of 15+ ghouls. I killed a bunch of them, but as I was nauseated at the time it made fighting a bit more difficult - my companion eventually bled to death when several of the ghouls ganged up on him and ate him alive.

My last few moments were being surrounded from all sides by atleast 8 of them constantly biting and clawing me, eventually knocking me unconscious.
Last 5 or so logs of combat reports just looked like this repeated until I bled to death.

Approaching yet another mead hall, I knew by the exclamation marks there was something bad happening inside. A bunch of those new-age soapmakers (also known as "artists") run from the front door screaming and crying. Peeking inside, I almost caught an arrow. It seems that the whole local militia suddenly went mad for whatever reason. Not big surprise though, being locked up with that much dabbling poets and musicians in one room.

Continuing on my adventure I met with a peasant, who prattled about the beasts she had no idea where to find. She told me about her well-traveled neighbour though and she even knew where exactly he is! I think it's the first time I've actually found "the well-traveled guy". He turned out to be a soldier. In a hamlet. City slicker. Short and skinny old man, well-traveled indeed, but with quite low weapon skills as it seemed, since he was the first warrior who didn't laugh in my face at the offer of traveling together.
So we went to the closest bandit camp, where a horde of goblin wrestlers overrun us. Though we managed to behead a bunch, we were eventually immobilized, beaten in our guts repeatedly and finally crushed to the pulp by the silver flail of their leader.

Damn, it all began so epic, only to end like a nonsensical gangster-film episode.

Ud left the fortress Earthfortune (Berakam) and this northern region run by the dwarven civ, The Sabre of Taming. He skipped the ruined fortress Mansionmouth, home to a roc. Outside of narrative/simulative needs, rocs are never interesting.

Under starry night, over tundra and glacier, Ud moved eastward to a human civ, The Kingdom of Reticence, stopping only at Cactusram in The Blizzard of Noiselessnes, home of Meyi Beachstrapped the glacier titan. Meyi was a feathered ladybug with a broad shell, regal bearing, and a poisonous bite. Ud decided to level his speardwarf skill and took to whacking Meyi's shell with the shaft. Ud's plan was to pulp Meyi part by part for the XP, but I erred and had him swing at the thorax, which does not take damage well. Training ended abruptly.

In the town of Trickedends (Engduzuso), after dropping off glacier titan meat at the local tavern, Ud queried the lady Uzin Aspacitu about their surroundings. Much of the usual. Past history. Long dead terrors. Places to hunt. But then she mentioned Noiselesshearts the Sewer of Standing, home to Cek Standsubtle the Hail of Fur. Some investigation in Legends Mode revealed Cek was a weregiraffe. Instead of asking lady Uzin Aspacitu for directions to Noiselesshearts the Sewer of Standing, Ud worked a world map tile by tile reveal in the local area mentioned. He paid the human a visit. Cek withheld nothing. He seemed quite eager to tell Ud about the people he devoured. Further investigation in Legends Mode revealed, like so many others in this world, prior to profaning, Cek was a noted religious figure. Ud wished him well and departed.

Later, after some bandit pummeling, Ud spent a little time rummaging about various meadhalls looking for arrows. The webbers and the two dust titans he has plans for all need to be dropped to the ground whether by throw or archery prior to melee engagement.
