The inhabitants of the vault are certainly interesting. Their deity is the human goddess segu who's spheres are deformity and disease. The unarmed variety are marmots in humanoid form composed of vomit it bears malodorous pustules.

The intelligent and armed ones are monkeys in humanoid form composed of grime and filth they also bear malodorous pustules.
These things are disgusting. Mostly harmless though. I'm only really worried about the archangel. I'm always worried about the archangel.

I was right to. Dead in one hit rest in pepperonis.

So wait, these monkeys instead of throwing poop throw bits of themselves?

I laughed a bit too much at reading that info. It's just good to know I'm not the only one called a wizard/witch/sorcerer whatever!

Anyhow my current adventuring is on hold as the civ I started off in wasn't to my liking and I've made meanwhile a few (possibly semi-final) polishing to my Ischrotaur raw.
So It depends on when I get back to DF and if ZM5 has fixed the issues by then with his newly modded-in creatures.

Planning either re-creating my character in a different civ in the current default world or when ZM5 has fixed the issues with the Draenei I'll be just having them as a civ in a fresh new world as my DF experience needs a peaceful race and a civ to start off in (peaceful dance forms!).
Quite fed up actually with having to choose humans every time in the default game as they happen to have the most convenient npcs and easy to find buildings for all things adventure-wise.

It's odd how DF's narrative framing depicts monster families as the evil ones. Both were engaged in idle chit chat before Ud arrived. No one wanted to live in exciting times, but an honorable dwarf who was not a vanguard of destiny, but of unknown parentage, and likely a pure club, took hold of their fate.

After pelting Kima, Ud swept through the area around the mountain range and cleared out the two vile ogresses, one of which had a husband and a child (who was playing make believe before the axe fell for the fourth time) and later the two giantesses, one whose eldest son and husband were witness to her fall. The son threw himself on Ud before taking a pick strike to the head. That was the measure of his love. The husband flashed that navy blue !. He had yielded and had seen too much. Convention would call him a coward, but convention's never known fear or sense or reflection. Convention is all armchair. Ud walled the husband in with a few campfires and slept for eight hours before leaving for a bandit camp. In this case, it was natural to be surrounded by fire.

Residential bloodshed aside, the last few bandit camps had been kobold run, but this one was manned by a goblin overload with a masterwork silver axe, two elite goblin crossbowmen, a goblin spear master who owned a very ugly masterwork shield and a goblin macelord. Ud took a page from the Book of Max™ and makikomi'd them to death. Just 1.000 speed jumps without the grab towards the end was enough.

Ud returned to the fortress Gildwatchful wondering what dwarves would be given the various Carolingian designed masterwork items. There is something that is so pvp about an unskilled weapon user with a masterwork item. Stuff never makes the person.

I must object though, it was the book of Broseph Stalin, I love Kisat Dur and advocate it's use for any number of situations, even when totally inappropriate, but I only really came up with Dragonfall and Skyhammer, the original Hawkwrath was Broseph.

Tried to climb down into a temple, and lost my grip on a constructed rock wall and fell into water below. The rest of the temple is accessible, and crawling with brigands, but my companions refuse to follow me down.

Problem is that every time I try to climb back out, I slip and fall back in.

It's a rectangular pit. Bottom is a pool of water, with two ledges EW and two doors NS. Climbing the walls that don't lead to ledge or door will lead to a constructed block floor back at the surface. So in theory, all it takes is one successful climb attempt to make it past the block wall.

But of course, being a "dabbling" climber, I keep slipping back into the water.

At some point will I grind my way to becoming a more successful climber and get out? Or should I just commit suicide by brigand horde?

Ironically, this temple is on the outskirts of the town containing the keep, the Perfect Bastion, from which I rule.

Created a new world, a rather cold desert world with a little under half of its surface being covered in ice, there is a fair bit of land that isn't freezing, but I don't think there is a warm place on the entire planet.

Goblins have dominated most of the planet, humanity is in low numbers and most of it has been conquered by the goblins, bits of the elves have been conquered but their in much better condition then the humans, kobolds have a little over 1000 population that is scattered among various caves across the planet and dwarves have never existed.

I start as an elf as I didn't want to play as humans and I really wasn't feeling like playing a kobold at the moment. First elf dies within a day to a night troll. Second elf is a bit more successful able to do some training and getting some armor and better weaponry from some goblins.

I decided I would go northwest so I could cross the planet and reach the towns and hamlets that were conquered by the goblins I'm hoping they will have plenty of food. Getting food is rather difficult since most of the world is either frozen or desert, life would be so much easier if I could just eat people. Anyway, I decide to check out a nearby cave in the hopes I could find some food. It seems elves live here, I decide to go into the caverns and I find a gorlak, I was able to convince him to join me as an entertainer so I've got myself a companion. Suddenly a giant bat attacks my gorlak friend and I have to kill it, it takes awhile since I only had a silver sword but I was able to harvest its glorious meat.

I leave with my gorlak companion and head north west towards the destination on the other side of the world, we made a fair bit of progress but we were stopped by a blizzard man. My poor gorlak companion got beating unconscious and lost one of his tusks and sustained permanent damage to his left shoulder and elbow, I imagine at this point he is probably regretting coming with me.

I arrive and decide that instead of hanging around in this town I'll go to the what little remains of human civilization. I was able to replace my silver long sword with an iron short sword and get a silver flail for my gorlak, I know he's going to die a horrible death but maybe he will live a few seconds longer by using that flail. It seems there is a very serious night troll problem in this region, it worries me greatly, well at least I have the gorlak to distract them if need be.

Ah! I began with a Dragonfall hybrid (just the one grab then the jump, no second grab) and finished with Hawkwrath once they were down. So it was both yours and Broseph Stalin's techniques. Albeit both at subpar speeds.

The rank and file gobbos just got the pick or the axe.

Had a similar experience, but without the bandits. I just fast traveled realizing the smooth nature of the wall made it impossible.

I find climber is like swimmer. Better to start with novice. Less headache.

Ughhh. Y'know what folks. I just realized something once again. I keep trying to take a break from DF but I just can't for the life of me get any rest because I need one thing.. ONE thing from DF for a few days now and that is: A secondary adventure mode playthrough where I play as an evil version of Dhorna.

To put it short: I just need to unleash my dark impulses in that secondary playthrough. To be the Khorne incarnate and rain hate and terror down onto everything ingame that I just wanna hack and stab and mutilate, punch and kick, gore and bite to tear them apart! Drolth sword wasn't made to be something you keep strapped on back 90% of the time.

Eh, I'm just tired of dealing with NPCs and reading for the time being, I'm dying for some action so I'd rather kill and hack things and get some proper Warhammer 40k chaos mayhem done to relax. First victims will be that human civ I originally spawned in, or better yet: the town with a criminal problem. Slaughter them all and no problem! :D

*an hour later* Alright, 'Dhorna Demonborn the Queen of Rage' has been created, now to change her alternative azure eyes and mahogany skin to something evil and some DFhack warp sorcery and I shall have my fill of massacre. To quote the chaos dreadnought: "I WILL MASSACRE ALL I FIND!" Heh, this will be fun for me and will help me relive my sorrows and pains and intense anger and frustration. Ischronite metal will also be painted some form of red in this alternate version of 'Gatalsil'.

Huehuehue. More reason to mod bronze colossi or even dragons to be playable, and ideally intelligent. Megabeast flag means the whole town will be eager to fight, too. X3

Well, my female Ischrotaur doesn't look all that more menacing with just chestnut skin and golden yellow eyes, just means warp/demonic/hellish powers are in the works and in DF realm with all the different creatures she'd be just another oddity to them at first until it's too late. Ischronite is now in vermilion color in that particular world.

All things check except a backpack and info about the areas now, an easy thing to fix.

EDIT: Nice, two criminal pests to massacre and this time the other one is in the exact place the previous good incarnation of Dhorna started off in.
EDIT2: Neat, backpack (blazing cloth, how fitting) and some info about the local area, check! I can now freely do whatever I want from evil to good without going in a simulation mode to kill some npc who pisses me off or something of the sort!

EDIT3: By the way, I do apologize if I seem chaotic with a "screw off" attitude with this as I'm once again been up for far too long and I just couldn't get any rest until I boot up DF again and did what I needed to do to calm down and know for sure that I have a new adventure rolling. A playthrough where I can well and truly express the amount of evil I didn't even do as a Drog the kobolth and this evil version of Dhorna is my first ever official semi-evil female character. It's also her first incarnation where the feminine take on the name 'Khorne' will be put to use properly.
And when I talk of killing humans in the game or calling them humies I'm of course relieving my frustrations and hate. Nothing to do with you guys in this forum (you've been the best forum folk I've met!). Just the ones who've managed to piss me off to no end in the past or in far past or some other recent farce in real life. I hope you understand. Plus I have to live up to my avatar of pixelated Khorne icon at some point by playing DF in such a horrible way that it is worthy both of Khorne and Armok. :)
