Created a puppet government in a hamlet.

Killed a lord and all his hearth-people hired my own hearth people and gave my status as lord to one of my henchmen, convinced him that power over others is the ideal goal in life, and so is cunning and that self control is worthless, retired somewhere else, then this happened.

It sounds like they didn't stay in charge of things after you retired?

Just before abandoning another world due to save crashes, I found that my civ's law-giver had moved into the tombs. He wasn't shown as dead, he simply decided to settle somewhere with nothing but locked pyramids and ziggurats full of bodies and dusty treasures. I never got the chance to investigate that.

considering that you can retire in tombs I wonder if they act like a site for units.

My last adventurer started in a tomb. Technically he started on top of the tomb and had to jump off of it and scramble away on his broken limbs until he could be fixed by the healing power of fast travel.

I had actually visited that tomb and cracked a couple, but stopped before finding a mummy. I didn't see any living person there. Also, haven't you noticed trouble rumors about skulking villains sometimes refer to a tomb location? Has anyone seen kobolds in tomb areas? Maybe there some hidden underground entrance I've overlooked in the pursuit of treasure.

Fielding a dwarf traveler who's just roaming around. Walked into a trading depot and found some dwarves chasing down a goblin consort. Dwarf traveler lends a hand and gives goblin a pummeling pommel to the leg to slow him down, then steps back to watch the champion kill the consort with the help of chief medical dwarf. The dwarven medical oath is fairly martial and in some cases meant to harm.

A thing that occurred to be just now was to tinker with inorganic_metal.txt and remove [ITEMS_WEAPON][ITEMS_WEAPON_RANGED][ITEMS_AMMO][ITEMS_DIGGER][ITEMS_ARMOR] from some metals and add them to say some others. Remove from say copper, but add to platinum. It'd be awful for edge, but great for blunt. Has anyone done this in Adv Mode? Just interested to here the results.

Searching a city of 5000+ people for a single slab containing great magical secrets. There is no library, I only found one warehouse which didn't have it and neither did the keep. I'm out of ideas here...

You sure it isn't in the dungeons? That's where I found the one slab I've ever seen in a town. Aside from that, you're boned. Search the entire town tile by tile.

I've fighting a bronze colossus while duel-wielding slabs. Living the dream. And then I'm going to cut off its limbs and train like six weapon skills.

Genned a new world, another bipolar one with incomplete connection to all landmasses. One is accessible only by stretches of polar ice-cap long enough to drive a civilized being insane; better bring a good book. Started a Cougar Man, and expected to be limited to dwarven sizes, but it turns out the adult size is midway enough to wear all sizes. So I start with claws, innate climbing ability, excellent sense of smell, gait and all attribute averages of a human, and I can wear steel and silk!

For my first fight I beat up a bandit lasher who was harassing a village, and successfully demanded his weapon. I asked him how he felt about that and he accused me of being a brigand, a robber and a law-breaker. I asked the farmer witnessing nearby what he thought, and he told me I was a talented dancer and a pleasure to speak with. I think his word will bear up better in a court of law.

EDIT: Wait, cougar man has a slower max speed. They don't even get a quicker start speed or lower build-up rate. That's bullshit.

My reputation for mugging preceded me into the city. Nothing about my dancing? Fkin ingrates...

First town, and the keep was exactly the kind of warzone I'd come to expect from previous versions (playing .04 currently.) It wasn't just gobos acting up in court, it wasn't a mere insurrection -- two underground gangs happened to spawn in close proximity to each other and the stairs into the keep.

Downstairs goblins and olm men were furiously paving the floors in a slurry of blood. A few fighters had drifted upstairs in search of enemies, but many more had the misfortune to flee that direction while grievously wounded, so while there were wounded in the keep proper, the only bodies were the goblins. The lady of the keep was carved up pretty good. The human dead were the ones foolish enough to go downstairs, which is where I naturally headed. Looks like I'm getting my fight experience early. I'm going to have bring peace here if I'm ever going to get to dance for the court.

EDIT: More about Cougar Men:
- CARNIVORE as expected, so crops and berries are inedible.
- I don't see evidence that their claw template is different from humans, but there may be differences due to material properties.
- I'm still only average strength, yet my size is already classed as 'gigantic' for my kind. I'm light enough to fall 3 levels onto rock block without any impact, yet with Competent Wrestler I'm able to take down humans 25% larger than me. Charges and bodyslams are also effective against them. And I don't have much armor adding to my mass; my only metal is bronze helm and gauntlets.
