One of these days when I have a whole day/night I can just leave my computer running, I'm going to make a smaller world with very high pop cap, very high site cap, only a few beasts, and a thousand years of history. I expect wars with death counts in the high tens of thousands.

Watch it crash a few hours after you go to bed. o3o

please no

But I'm going to make a quick adventurer to go check out that camp with the demon in it. I'll tell you guys how it goes.

EDIT: It's murdering my buddies

EDIT2: So apparently there were some snatchers that were enslaved by the Realm of Gales when they conquered the Sin of Jaundice. But they didn't stop kidnapping kids when they were enslaved, oh no. Now they kidnap kids and bring them to the human capitol instead. This is definitely the most interesting world I've ever encountered.

You are not a space marine. Demon fighting might not be a good career. o3o

Demons are like forgotten beasts, their toughness varies, but they're more dangerous because they travel in packs. That way they always have someone to share their contempt and loathing for others with, even if it's each other.

Demon masters are another story. They can always wreck you solo. No matter how good you are, it's best to learn their true name for backup. But facing them in camps is much safer than their chambers, you get a much better shot at escaping when necessary, as is probably likely.

Yeah, that's why I savescummed. I don't want to clutter up the save with throw-away adventurers.

Now I'm going to see where the kids are being kept in that town.

I started a brawl with a goblin bard. Looking at his inventory, I saw that he had a book. I ripped the book out of his hands and then punched him so hard his head exploded.
The book was "Can the Goblin Save the World?", a melancholy autobiography of how the goblin got started as a poet.

I kind of feel like a dick now.

I thought I would park my bards in a safe corner from the colossus' shrine, but the corner I entered from wasn't. Not only were we directly overlooking the shrine, but near enough for it to charge straight at us before I could turn away. And before I could reach him, he had picked the Axedwarf up by the ear and flung him. Because he was wearing his armor, it absorbed all the damage, but it left him stunned some distance away for the rest of the fight. Then he turned on the Bard I was escorting to safety and broke her leg with one kick, putting her out, then grabbed her by the shoe. I finally got his attention with a crack on the head.

The Hunter leapt all over him one-fistedly and two-kickedly and fully futilely. But he was evading very well, and his leather was absorbing most of the brunt of the hits on him. And while I was chipping away at his neck and head, the colossus took off the bard's shoe and fractured her skull with it, then turned it against the Hunter and broke his remaining hand. The Hunter kept going at him with teeth and kicks, still evading.

That's when I finally sent it's head flying with a final pick. The Axedwarf was up and running back by now, my own Bard had miraculously been left untouched, even though standing right there, and my escort mission was bleeding to death with a broken skull. I immediately slept 8 hours -- probably overkill, but I panicked there.

When I woke, she wasn't visible. I searched through the trees, and saw a swordelf standing there. That was her! And she was completely recovered. I checked her history and it turns out she was an herbalist who, between authoring centuries of books, had killed a few men in battles. Not that this would've helped her here, I still would have left her in a safe place, but it was an interesting surprise. I wonder what her husband will think about the makeover.

EDIT: Oh, and on waking, while still checking if everyone was okay, the Hunter singlehandedly jumped and slayed a pack of capuchin. There was more blood on the ground from them than anything.

Can you bring some of them to this tavern? After getting elf booze to show up right I'm amused to learn that elf tavern keepers have no sense of when their customers have had enough. I had a macro set to spam wait so I could see if they'd do any different dances/pick up other songs from a nice party group I found.

Then one of the dancers suffocates... then another, then a dorf, then fights start breaking out, then people start attacking me, more fights, more alcohol overdoses, the tavern keeper starts trying to hit me, kick her away, she goes back to serving customers, more fights, more overdoses, and she finally died the last time I kicked her away from me. Shame.

gonna cancel that quest, ended up slamming into a wall while trying to escape being webbed constantly on a minecart and lost both arms and due to not having any backpack the elf corpse is lost.
I failed the quest I started with and now I have a magma man story teller with no hands, and missing an arm.

Can't he just bleed on people and melt them?

Is it normal for human tombs to be bunched together in a group of 8 or so? Because there's some really close to the necrotower I spent an entire day clearing out. Now I'm a necromancer with an entire army of I don't know how many zombies/skeletons following me and I've only raided 3 tombs. No mummy yet though, I know I'm immune/friendly with mummies as a necromancer, but I heard you can talk to them and I haven't found anything but corpses. Also apparently, if you reveal/spot/observe a trap, you're immune to it. Good to know, shame about some of my zombies though.

EDIT: Wait a minute, I just thought of something. when you [r]emove something, it goes into your hand no matter what. If I removed several shields, would their effects stack? Right now I'm holding two shield, a silver flail and a copper pick, but I don't know if the game is ignoring the impossibility of doing so, or just letting me hold those things with severe penalties to actually using them.

When the adventurer is told there is no more need for them, when there are no more targets to kill, why do they act surprised when our "hero" turns towards them and says "No"?

Supposedly shields do stack, but the weight of them also stacks, and you can't block very well while carrying 300u of shields.

Massive numbers of shields have been a fun exploit for a while. Should still be a thing. X3
